Like other IPS monitors, there is no viewing angle.

I will continue to buy and recommend Dell monitor, unless they start going bad on me like you read so much about.

Love the fact that color doesn't shift depending on viewing angle.

This is a very good monitor. Especially if you can get it for $250 or less. A great bargain for a 23" IPS widescreen LCD monitor. But it's not without some problems & shortcomings though. There are some backlight bleeding at the edges which may not bother the average user but will definitely bother those who does alot of photographic work. The color gamut is only 82% which means it cannot produce all the colors demanded of it, making it unsuitable for professional photographic, graphics design, video work or even serious non-pro users. It also has been found to have a slight tint at one side of the screen. Not noticeable unless viewed at an angle. Of course, being an IPS monitor, it has no color shift and a much wider viewing angle. If not for the limited color gamut, slight tint and backlight bleeding, it would've been a great monitor. Clearly, Dell intended this monitor for the non-pro user market as it is not up to the standards of, say, their U2410 monitor. Still, for the average user who will mainly do web serving, use office apps or play games and watch videos, it is a great choice.

I'm giving this monitor only three stars, not because there is anything wrong with the monitor, but rather because if you order it, you won't actually receive this monitor. Instead, you will receive a Dell U2312HM. Or at least this is what happened to me. The monitor listed here is the Dell U2311H, which is apparently not made anymore and the U2312HM is the replacement model. There is nothing wrong with the new model--I like it fine. But if you've done a lot of research on what model monitor you want, you may not prefer the newer model. The newer model is different in some important ways. E.g., the backlight is an LED backlight, rather than a CCFL backlight. There's nothing wrong with LED backlights, but they are a bit different in their properties.

There is one thing that I really don't like about the monitor: It's anti-reflective coating makes things look grainy, especially text on a white background. I'd rather have a glossy monitor than this grainy look, and I'm not keep on glossy screens either. Apparently this is the standard anti-glare coating that is used to today, so, no doubt most other monitors that you look at will have the same flaw.

You can find a good professional review of the U2312HM at tftcentral. (Amazon won't let me put in a link to the review.)

Works great with Mac Mini (monitor cable works with Mac's adapter, so no additional cables needed).
Love the fact that color doesn't shift depending on viewing angle.

Get this monitor after a week after placing the order. Received in great shape, it keeps the usual quality of other Dell ultrasharp products.

I recently purchased two of these. I also own a 27" TN 2048 x 1152 panel of reasonable quality, but these are hands down the best monitors I have ever used.

I am an RGP contact lens wearer, and these panels are much easier on my vision than anything else. For that reason alone I would recommend these panels. The color is detailed and superb, and the ergonomics of the Dell hardware is second to none. Pivot is a welcome function, DVI and Display Port inputs make these monitors a dream to work with.

I didn't give it five stars because there are bigger IPS panels with 8-bit color, but this is a very good panel for business/home office/gaming at an extremely reasonable price.

I ordered this monitor to replace the aging one that was on my girlfriend's system. The first monitor we received had some sort of weird pinstriping issue, with red lines running vertically down the screen every six or seven pixels or so. We contacted the seller (which wasn't Amazon.com for this purchase) and they arranged to ship the defective monitor back to Dell, and send us another one in it's place. The second monitor arrived and worked perfectly. It has bright, vivid color and the games she plays (Warcraft, Rift) look phenomenal on it.

The four star review is because the stand that came with it is not height-adjustable, and on her desk it makes the monitor sit slightly higher than is comfortable. Other than that, great monitor, makes me wish I had one!

Great for Pro Photography/Graphic Design work.

Backlight bleed? Mostly on edge and that's where the toolbars and menu is, so no worries.

If you work mostly with web optimized applications, sRGB is much prefered than Adobe RGB.

What I like most about this monitor, compared to some cheaper panels, is that it actually have excellent gradient rendition, especially gray gradient. There is absolutely no color cast on gray gradient compared to some cheaper model of IPS panels using 8-bit display. I believe this monitor uses 10-bit display which displays more color gradient than cheap panels.

Huge plus. Highly recommended.
