This monitor was purchased for both watching video from a DVR and/or as a computer monitor used for trading. It works well in both situations with a crisp image. It takes up a relatively modest footprint on the desk and works with monitor arms (purchased separately) that save even more space. In total, it a great value. Previously, I have purchased other Dell Ultrasharp monitors and have never been disappointed. Ultrasharp monitors have superior image quality to alternatives within the Dell product lines and from low cost competitors.
It would be nice if the monitor supported 1920 x 1200 resolution instead of 1920 x 1080 but that is a relatively minor issue. More of irritation is that it does not have an HDMI input. More importantly, it would be nice various vendors of computer and video equipment standardized video input. At the moment, I have high end products across my computer and video equipment and have to manage HDMI, Displayport, DVI, miniature DVI and analog VGA connections. To get this monitor to work with my Tivo Premier, I had to purchase an HDMI to DVI cable, which is available on Amazon for about $10 for the 25ft cable.
Several weeks into my purchase, there is a persistent, peculiar smell of burning plastic that I assume is outgassing common to various electrical devices. I hope it dissipates at some point.
Pros:
Great value
Excellent picture quality (video or computer)
Cons:
No HDMI
Suspicious persistent burning plastic smell weeks into the purchase
