Worst printer EVER!,
By
This review is from: Dell V305 All-in-One Printer (Office Product)
Always having to troubleshoot through problems...a 2 minute print job turns into an hour. Ink cartridges do not last long at all. After the color ink that came with the printer ran out, I have never been able to get another color cartridge to work. Do not buy this printer!

A Dell telephone salesman sold me the Dell V305 as an "all-in-one" printer. There is no help information in the owner's manual or in an on-screen guide. My old Dell A940 was much more helpful. The V305 cannot work faxes, and if in fact it can print envelopes, there are no instructions anyplace for it. The owner's manual is useless for info on faxing or envelope printing. Useless.

The only thing you are paying for is the Dell name. This printer is overpriced. I do like the convenience of it being wireless but that is it. I get error messages all the time, so I have to unplug it, restart my computer. So a two minute print job turns into two hours. USES INK!!!!! I replaced my cartridge yesterday and printed about 15 pages for my son and had to replace it today. DONT BUY. I am thinking of getting the Kodak ESP 7 with the ink saving offer. Right now I am stuck with this one till I can afford another

Not Sure Why Everyone Hates This Thing???,

I have had nothing but positive experiences with this printer that came with our Dell computer. Except for the amount of ink it appears to go through, we have used this for everything from pictures (printing and pulling from our memory card), scanning (turning into .jpg AND .pdf), envelopes (2 years of XMAS cards!), and tons of general print jobs (both color and bw). It is quieter than any other home printer we have owned and has been stable on our furniture as well. I was actually looking to buy one for my Mom when I saw all of this negative feedback. I don't get it - we've been very happy. Either the key is that we got ours directly from Dell or we should just count our blessings! The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because it really does go through the ink. However, these things are programed to warn you waaaay in advance, so we don't change out the cartridges until the ink stops coming out during print jobs. Honestly, we have been seeing the warning on our current cartridge for 2 months now and we made it through XMAS card season; printing 87 envelopes. I'm still using that cartridge as I type this.

Uses way too much ink and spradically doesn't scan,

I wish I saw the reviews for this printer before we purchased it. We purchased this printer about a year ago to be compatible with our wireless network. It does one thing right - the print quality of your pages is exceptionally good. However, with that exceptionally good printing comes a huge negative - the printer is a high ink user - uses a massive amount of ink quickly. The print cartidges are not cheap, so you find yourself going through a lot of money - so not only does it drain your ink fast, it also drains your wallet. To top it off, the scanner part of this printer works on and off, so you can't rely on it to scan anything. Will be ditching this printer soon and upgrading to something that works in both scanning and printing without emptying my wallet.

"IT SUCKS" doesn't begin to describe it.,
This review is from: Dell V305 All-in-One Printer (Office Product)
Of all the printers I have owned, this is the worse piece of junk ever created. Shame on you DELL for pushing a product beneath your reputation. No wonder you push it for $45 when someone buys a computer. You got stuck with a warehouse full of v305 printers and are trying to get rid of them. One star is the lowest rating one can give in order to write a review so that's what I rated it, but if it had a -10 rating, that's what I would have given it. And the cost of ink???? What's with $15.00 for a tablespoon of black liquid?
I have never been able to print anything in color with this printer. It also says it has a preview function, but it goes straight to the printer and prints without being able to see if everything is o.k. before printing. No print preview. I would not even desecrate the junk yard with this printer. Judging by the number of previous reviews, I doubt seriously Dell will be selling much more of this piece of junk IF people bother to read them.

Avoid Dell if you think you'll ever need customer service,

I have a Dell All-in-One (same concept, different model) that I now have to throw away because I misplaced the original disk with drivers/software. I needed to re-install it, could not find the disk, and upon calling Dell was advised that I would have to pay close to $50 for any assistance, even just another copy of the disk, since the item was "out of warranty". Everything needed is not available for download online. Given the inordinate number of hours already wasted, the frustration encountered, the lack of any cooperation from Dell, and the low prices on new equipment, I finally concluded that it makes more sense to buy a new All-in-One from a different company than to sink more money into a business that clearly does not value me as a customer. However, if future customer service is not the deciding factor for you, other points to consider: (1) the actual equipment seems to have held up well over the past 3 years with no mechanical problems during average use, and (2) the Dell ink cartridges are very expensive but arrive very quickly after ordering. Overall, I do not recommend the Dell brand in any model.

This Printer is worst than garbage. Why Dell, why?,

Have you ever bought a printer that merely lasted for 2 weeks? Unfortunately, I did. I bought this printer for the fact that it was cheap and it's from Dell, and now I regret it. This printer is bulky, makes a lot of noise, shakes up my desk when printing, and recently started experiencing paper jam. There's is no type of support for it at all. Even after visiting dell's support page, and tried the useless troubleshooting method they had; all attempts failed. Dell should be ashamed of themselves for making this printer. A complete rip off. Never buying dell brand again, sorry.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER!,
By Jessie G. (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dell V305 All-in-One Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this printer one year ago for personal, at home, use and it's already broken. I estimate that I have printed less than 500 sheets of paper on this printer (that's only 1 packet of paper over the course of one year). The paper feeder improperly feeds the paper causing a paper jam everytime I try to print. The printer is inoperable. I contacted Dell to troubleshoot the problem and they refused to assist me as my printer is 18 days out of warranty. They told me my printer had "gone bad" and I simply needed to purchase a new one. It's unacceptable to purchase an item only to have it break after one year. Invest a little more money and purchase a better quality printer, like an HP.

If you're one of Al Gore's highly paid staffers then this printer is for you. But if you're part of the 99% then owning this printer will drive you into bankruptcy. The printer itself and all the features, scanner, copier, etc., work great. But the ink cartridges have a woefully low yield and are very, very expensive. This printer is designed to punish you if you use even a moderate amount of paper and ink. I bought a Kodak and I left my Dell v305 down in the laundry room at my apt complex--with a warning.
