Although It appears Dell has discontinued this little television, (mine was a referb) if you can still find it I can highly recommend you buy it.
Bought mine from Amazon 3rd party for $212 ! The picture and sound quality is VERY good for an LCD HDTV, easily surpassing the 32" LCD we have by another manufacturer. (although NOT surpassing our InFocus 7205 HD projector!)This TV was manufactured by Phillips for Dell and the quality shows it. My teenage sons each have one and they are used as both TV and computer monitor. Comes without a manual but can be downloaded from Dell. Two thumbs up !

Nice tv until it dies. Mine died at 2 1/2 years of use. Just not worth the cost. We paid $700 for it. You can get better cheaper.

I bought this about a year ago and as soon as a year hit it died. The problem with this TV is the back light inverter ( The thing that makes the TV glow) is poorly made. Instead of paying $400 for a new HDTV i just fixed it myself with this useful website called Moniserv. They provide instructions on how to fix the TV step by step taking it apart. One with no technical knowledge can do the fix all you have to do is be careful. lcdparts dot net or com is where you can get the inverter, its under the model W1700.

This seems to be a good product. Refurbished. There was no owners manual so i am having trouble at times figuring out how to get things from popping up on the screen. I use this is a TV only.

I purchased this in Dec. 2004 from TigerDirect as recertified for $400 (retail was probably over $700 during that time). It was a great price considering I have been using it for two years now with no problems. It was a good way to replace my bulk monitor and saves a lot of space on my desk. Another cool thing, it has PIP. I can watch TV shows while using same LCD as monitor to do computer work. Space and PIP were my main reasons in purchasing this LCD.

I bought this through Tiger as a refurb unit. It lasted about 2.5 years of light duty usage before it crapped out. If I had known it was from Philips I wouldn't have bought it. I've not had good luck with Philips/Maganavox branded TV products.

Sure, it's not a big screen, but now I can watch HD shows with my digital cable. Also, it looks like a big screen to me, because my last TV was a tiny 13" sony trinitron! I haven't found the energy to hook up external speakers yet, don't need to, the built in ones sound GREAT! Would have given 5 stars, but I didn't get a manual (had to download off the internet). Otherwise, highly recommended.

Beware...bought this monitor 3.5 yrs ago and it just died. It only has a 1 year warranty. Good luck with it.

This, by far has been my favorite TV/Monitor EVER. The picture quality was great, the sound was great, the monitor was GREAT. I thought we hit pay dirt with this one...until the picture died. Flat out died. I loved this monitor so much that I bought four other big name tv/monitors (Sharp/Samsung/Panasonic, etc) before I ultimately went back to the Dell W1700. None had good sound, none had a monitor that felt suitable. Mostly, the sound and picture were horrible. It was a blessing in disguise when I found another Dell W1700. Well, this one only lasted a year. They just don't last. It seems to be a flaw with this model and probably the reason why Dell has discontinued it. I'm telling you, I absolutely LOVED this tv/monitor especially the Picture in Picture feature. I loved being online while the TV was viewable in a smaller box on the same screen. BUT, I'm done replacing it every year or two.

I bought this Lcd tv for my girlfriend for christmas..It has great picture, clear and crisp to the T. Easy as one to three to install. Wonderfull features such as picture and picture. One can watch one channel while waching another on the corner of the screen. You Also can be on the computer while watching tv..Sound is great and clear...If any one wants to see a Video of the tv..reach me a ramonparatu@hotmail.com
