Performance wise, this computer stands up really well. The processor in this is extremely solid for those on a budget.
Some things that stand out to me:
- 4th Generation Intel Pentium (Haswell) processor (Released in Q2 of 2014)
- One 4GB stick of RAM (better than 2X2 GB, because you can easily upgrade to 8GB)
- On board WiFi, Bluetooth, and HDMI along with 6 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports (you just don't see that for this price)

In the short time I have had this computer, I have been thoroughly impressed. I use it as a Home Theater PC and I have not been disappointed. It is small and sleek looking so it doesn't look out of place below the TV. It runs very quiet and cool (even during downloading and video playback, the fan doesn't pick up at all!). And I am not concerned about leaving it on all the time because it is very energy efficient.

This isn't going to blow your socks off. But it is not meant to. For this price ($250 whenever I bought) it is hands down THE best computer there is.

Bottom line: If you need a computer for every day tasks such as web browsing, email, media playback, Microsoft Office work, and even light gaming, this is the computer for you. It will fly through these tasks without a hiccup. And with on-board WiFi and bluetooth, there are even fewer cables.

Now if you are looking for a top of the line gaming PC, obviously this isn't for you...

Ok I am going to break this down into 3 parts.

First the computer itself. I got in at the $250 price level and I am very happy for the money. No not blazing fast but if you are replacing an older PC you will be amazed. I replaced a high end gaming rig (5 years old) due to a hard drive failure and I find this PC loads faster and handles the web, emails, video, and day to day tasks fine. No I will not be playing and FPS game on it I haven't for years. The hard drive is a little small and there are no open bays to put another one it but I will be doing my back ups and mass storage to an external drive. I may up the RAM to 8Gig but so far do not feel the need. DVD RW drive works well and it has lots of USB ports. It has a small foot print on the desk top, again nice compared next to my old rig.

Second, Windows 8.......With some tinkering it can be configured to look like Windows 7. No Office software included of any kind. I do have a an older version of Office but wanted to try something new. No way was I going to pony up for Office 2013 or 365 so I installed Libre Office (freeware) and OMG what a great piece of software. All the things I need and just as good as Office 2013 (which I use at work) check it out. As for Windows 8 apps I am underwhelmed. Not nearly as many as Android or Apple and I just don't get it, when I am on my PC I like to multi task, lots of windows open, checking Wiki, my bank account and the weather all at once. With an app you are tied to one thing, period. Also in order to use any apps you will have to give some personal information to Micro Soft, no more than what you give for a new smart phone but it still bothers me.

Third, it was 19 days from order to ship from Amazon.(then 3 days in shipping) That's a long time to wait but FOR THE PRICE it was worth it. Also be careful who you get it from, MAKE SURE you are getting it directly from Amazon not one of their re-sellers or vendors. There have been reports of new computers arriving with all sorts of pre-instaled ad-ware and worse.

I would absolutely do this again, but remember my needs no longer include graphic intensive games.

As a heads up:

1. The power supply is pretty much the bare minimum for the components on board. That means you won't be able to get any kind of graphics card for the most part without upgrading your power supply, even though there is a card for a graphics card slot. In addition, there aren't a whole lot of power supplys, particularly ones that are confirmed to not be cruddy, that fit this size tower, from what I gleaned from my shopping. The best deal from what I found was a $30 power supply for 300W (the built in one is 220W) from a semi sketchy but slightly confirmed seller.

2. In addition, while there is a graphics card slot on the machine, the size of the computer is such that it only accommodates low profile graphics cards, which also tend to be a somewhat worse deal from what I'd found.

Between points 1 and 2, and for long term potential to save money if I ever wanted to upgrade or modify further, I figured rather than accommodate the small tower, that it was a better deal to just go with the $50 tower+power supply combo on Amazon from a reputable seller (which I came to the conclusion of after a good amount of looking around amazon and other sites).

3. Also to save you time, the RAM onboard the computer is a single 4GB die, and there's another slot available, so if you want to get matching RAM, rather than buy two 4GB cards, you can get another copy of the 4GB card, which has part # M378B5173DB0-CK0 (unless they vary the RAM by computer), which you can find here:

But yeah, I got mine for the insane price of $250, so despite the extra $50 setback arising from my desire to get a graphics card, this was still the best deal for me.

Really great PC for the price (if you were lucky as I to get it for $250). Windows 8.1 is not as bad as I thought it would be. I bought this for my parents who needed something to replace their 10 year old Windows XP pc that was slow as snails.

I really like how fast this is for a budget PC and it has amazing specs for the price. 4 GB RAM, Pentium processor, 500 GB HDD @ 7200 RPMS, anything else is gravy.

After uninstalling all the bloatware from Dell, you're left with a nice little PC that runs very quick and no real issues with performance (for web browsing, word processing, and Skype anyway).

So glad I waited to buy one until I saw a good price. Its priced at $335 now, but if you can get this at a price lower than $300, its a good deal.

YESTERDAY this box was priced at $250 Prime. Today it's at $359 non-Prime.

This box is fine enough for most folks ... high-speed disk, very decent CPU, one-chip $38 upgrade to 8GB, HDMI, Bluetooth, USB3 ... all good features.

It's certainly worth $300. At $250 it's a DEAL! At $359? Only if you must.

When you DO see a great deal on Amazon, remember this lesson: it doesn't pay to wait ... even for a day.

Addendum 24 Jul 14: the price now is $288, and that is a SMART BUY! I've built this little baby for my sister and have found it to be VERY slick and quick indeed! And the CPU is a BARGAIN for only $65 right now if you've got a motherboard that will take it. For the money today, this Dell box is a great deal for anyone but a heavy gamer.

Computer arrived with a virus or other issue. It restarts itself after shut down. I updated all Bios drivers and checked the user profile which wasn't the issue. I contacted Dell support who wanted to charge $150 to fix the problem on a brand new CPU. Will not buy Dell again, or from this seller.

I can only give 3 stars cause I ordered 2 and 1 worked great the other one has major issues. Bad power supply right from start no problem I run computer shop so I replaced worked for while. Now the motherboard has issues guessing the bad Power supply damaged something. Called there tech support and was giving so much run around I gave up and ordered a small motherboard and just fix myself and sell at cost. Still going to try to get psu replaced but guessing that will be lost cause to.

Still as recap the one did work fine once I reinstalled windows 7 that is. As for the other once I get new motherboard guessing it will be fine to.

Still have $287 it worth the chance I just should have sent back as soon as I seen PSU was bad. (My own fault on that one)

Small update after a ton of hell with tech support (India I am guessing) I got a referb motherboard and bad psu from them. The referb motherboard seems to fixed most of the issues and as for psu they are sending me another one. I have to say they need to train there tech little better or update there how to books. Trying to tell them you cant test a computer that doesnt boot with a bad psu, is like trying to teach a blind man to fly a plane.

I've been using this desktop for about two weeks now, and have yet to have any problems with it. Since I use a TV as my monitor, I was initially concerned that the machine would have trouble connecting to the TV (via HDMI cable) without changing settings beforehand, but upon the first start-up it immediately displayed the image on the television. In fact, the initial setup was a quick and painless process. Also, despite having bare bones hardware specifications, it is not noticeably slower than other computers that I have used such as my ASUS laptop with an Intel core i5 processor. If you are looking for a desktop that is sufficient for internet browsing and basic document editing then for the low price it is an excellent deal.

This is the perfect system for someone who doesn't have strong computing needs. It gets you on the net, allows you to watch movies, videos, e-mail, and pretty much anything that doesn't take a tremendous amount of computing power. The wireless feature was the selling point for me. Installation was effectively a breeze. I had a few problems getting the wireless feature to connect, but then I'm new to wireless. I'm sure if I'd been more experienced it would have more smoothly. Good deal for the price.

This is an excellent computer - fast enough to do daily duties. Enough memory so that there is no lag. I down graded the os to windows 7 pro using an older computer's license. This is not a game machine, just a really good work machine.

For the money you can not beat this computer.

its hard to believe the low price - making this an exceptional value.
