The meter features the ability to correct for changes in temperature, making it easy to take readings in room-temperature environments or the extreme heat of a kiln. The meter's ability to correct for 48 wood species also makes it ideal for working with a variety of wood types.

The Delmhorst J-2000 gauges moisture from 6 to 40 percent--measuring from dry conditions (ideal for fine furniture) to the fiber saturation point (about 24 to 30 percent). The large range means the meter can be used in high-humidity and low-humidity climates.

Pin-Type Meter with Electrode Connector Delivers Superior Results
The Delmhorst J-2000's pin-type meter uses two pins that penetrate wood to a depth of up to 5/16 inch. Pin-type meters provide more accurate readings than non-penetrating meters because their tips come into direct contact with the wood fiber. If you ever deal with wood that has been exposed to surface moisture such as rain, a pin meter is the best measurement tool because its readings are not skewed by this factor.

Plus, the Delmhorst J-2000 is equipped with a special connector for the Delmhorst Delmhorst 26-ES external electrode (sold separately), which allows you to take surface and core moisture content readings to a maximum depth of 1-1/16 inch.

I have found this tool to be very accurate. The ability to specify the wood (I.E.-ash,redoak,etc.) makes this tool more accurate. Because you have to enter the code for a particular type of wood you must have the manual handy, unless you limit yourself to a few types and just memorize what you need. It fits the hand or pocket for portability when you go out to buy wood.

I have really been impressed with the meter. It is very quick accurate and corrects for temp. and different wood. Very easy to use. I really don't know how you could make it better.
