I have owned this retro convection oven for 3 weeks now and have no complaints. Today I used the convection feature for the first time - and wow! My filo tarts were done in half the time, crisp on the outside, just perfect. I may retire my microwave. The toaster aspect works well, though you can't turn off the timer once you begin toasting - but that's no big deal, I figured out what setting I like right away. I admit, I was seduced by this oven's retro style, and am pleased that it works as good as it looks.

...still love it - I don't know what the last reviewer was talking about. To make toast you just need to figure out what setting you like best - maybe hers is defective? I use mine all the time, whatever fits, in lieu of my oven. Very easy to clean, still looks great too. Food cooks in half the time or less.

The DeLonghi AR690 gets 5 stars for its great retro design. It also cooks wonderfully. For instance, baked potatoes will get crisp skin on the outside while preserving moistness on the inside. My only complaint is that it's difficult to use both racks at the same time with anything of any significant height on either rack-- but I must remember that it is considered a small oven. I have eliminated my microwave in favor of the convection option this toaster oven offers. Although not as speedy as a microwave, the extra time is worth the health benefits. I highly recommend this purchase if counterspace is at a minimum and you would like something stylish and functional.

If you had a 1/2 rating I would give this product a 4 1/2. The only flaw it seems to have is in toasting, it drys out the bread rather than actually toasting and turning toasted color.
Other than that I am very pleased with this purchase.

We bought this for my Daughter-In-Law for Xmas and liked the way it looked. Well, we bought one for ouselves and threw away our toaster. It makes perfect toast all the time. Works great for cooking frozen pizza, pies, casseroles. Haven't tried to bake cookies yet, but that will be our next endeavor.

I was given a Delonghi Retro Toaster Oven as a gift last year. It worked fine for about three months and then quit on me. I called Delonghi, explained the situation, was told this was covered by the warranty and was directed to a warranty repair service shop (an independent company). On completion of the warranty work I was charged by the repair shop, even though I had the receipts, and was told I had to collect from Delonghi. After 5 weeks and a dozen phone calls to Delonghi customer service I finally gave up. Delonghi customer service promised to verify my calim time and again with promises to call me back which of course never happened. I asked repeatedly to talk with a supervisor who was never available and never called me back. My letter to Delonghi to this day has never been replied to. Thus, I will never buy a Delonghi product again! I suggest you think twice before you do.

I bought the Retro as a replacement for an older version of another similiar delonghi toaster oven I received from my wedding registry. After looking at the cuisinart and other delonghi models, I chose this one because of it's stylish retro look...more so than it's features. I love the convection baking feature and the ease of use. I can cook anything in there at half the time of my regular oven. It is so easy to defrost or keep food warm. It has been extremely easy to clean. The door closes firmly not leaving room for heat to escape. The only downfall I have with it is that it doesn't seem to toast dark enough even on the darkest setting. I find that I will have to turn the knob a second time to get the desired crisp that I want. I like the removeable crumb tray (the cuisinart has a pullout feature from the exterior of the oven that I wish the delonghi had) but I decided to buy a toaster oven mat to easily wash off crumbs and liquids. The racks are a little tough at first to slide in and out but have seemed to loosen up a bit as I have used them more and more. I am more than satisfied with my second purchase of a delonghi toaster oven. It looks great in my kitchen.

We have tried many appliances, this is the best we've ever had. The convection feature on this toaster oven is wonderful for re-heating foods, the defrost & dehydrate features are used more than I ever thought they would be & it makes great toast!!
This appliance has allowed me to throw out my microwave & never miss it since, freeing up precious counter space.

**UPDATE: Today is 12/22/2008 & my toaster oven is still going strong! I've made Prime Rib, Bread, Stews, Chicken, you name it & I've probably cooked it!! I still don't miss a microwave & have never had 1 problem with this oven. :)

I have so many problems with trying to just TOAST in this thing! I love the design of it, but I have tried every setting, every placement of the toast, etc. but it BURNS every time, or, better yet, putting it on the lighter setting, does nothing. Wheat fields are crying at the waste of bread that has gone throught this machine. It really is like a "dumb blonde" joke, it should just sit there and look pretty. Ugh!
