5.0 out of 5 stars I disagree with reviews I read here.
I bought a DeLonghi thermal carafe drip coffeemaker..DC77TC.. last weekend and I love it. Some coffee was left in the pot for 8 hours without additional heating. The coffee was still warm enough to drink...and it remained fresh since it was only heated when brewed. Obviously, the coffee was hot enough, but coffee in drip makers only heats to a max 160 degrees in the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee-Bad Carafe Design

Further inspection showed that the carafe had imploded, the glass inner lining had cracked into a thousand pieces and coffee was leaking out everywhere. An email of the problem and concern to DeLonghi yielded no response.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Cold Coffee., December 10, 2000

This machine makes a decent tasting pot of coffee if you like to pour it out of a Thermos, disappointingly lukewarm and cold within seconds. A waste of money. I'm going to to buy a different one.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!, May 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Delonghi DC80TC 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
This has to be one of the worst designs ever to be produced in any category. The biggest problem is the filter basket. It's about 1/4 to 1/2 inch too shallow meaning regular cone filters will not fit efficiently. This very often causes the filter to collapse and then it's coffee and coffee grounds all over the counter. What a mess! Avoid this terribly designed product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Non-Functioning Clock Timer, September 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Delonghi DC80TC 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
The clock timer has never functioned with the correct time even though the coffee maker is brand new. Therefore, I cannot use the automatic function on the coffee maker.

2.0 out of 5 stars TOO SMALL (and not HOT enough), January 2, 2002
This review is from: Delonghi DC80TC 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
Got this maker for CHRISTMAS and found it too small of a carafe. The coffee does not get hot enough and it is not 8 cups it is more like 3-4 cups!! NOT worth it >>> got a Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central Coffeemaker>>LOVE THAT ONE!!!

The coffee was still warm enough to drink...and it remained fresh since it was only heated when brewed. Obviously, the coffee was hot enough, but coffee in drip makers only heats to a max 160 degrees in the hottest automatic drip maker. The people who complained must have been accustomed to a manual drip, regular percolator or institutional machine. This product performed as I expected for what it is, but it is not an institutional machine and, therefore, will not perform like one...and it's nowhere near the same cost as an institutional machine.

Constantly overflowing with coffee all over the counter. Good coffee, but can't risk the spill over anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Haven't Had 1 Problem BUT use paper towel folded filter, February 18, 2003
This review is from: Delonghi DC80TC 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
I am a huge coffee drinker and this is another machine I put to daily use. I start off each morning with it because I want an entire pot of coffee that I can have sitting right next to me at my computer station. I drink the whole thing during the morning and it is nice and hot the entire time. Scalding, no, hot, yes. One trick I do with all coffeemakers is use a paper towel instead of a conventional filter. I fold the paper towel over on top and pat it down so that there is no way the top of the filter can intefere with the mechanics of the coffee maker. I used to have problems with these coffee machines until I started making my own filters with the folded over tops. I suspect that other people might improve their odds with coffee makers by doing the same. It is also cheaper than filters and takes about 10 seconds to do. This coffee maker overflowed on me once before I implemented my paper towel trick and then after that was perfect. I had the exact same experience with the cuisinart coffee machine for 2 commuter cups that I previously reviewed. I really think there is more of a problem with bad coffee filters than with bad coffee makers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Carafe, electronics not sealed, November 19, 2002
By
Ron Dietrich (Fremont, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Delonghi DC80TC 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
I bought this for my wife for Christmas last year and the first time we used the wrong filters, the electronics got soaked and it stopped working. The insulated carafe did not keep the coffee warm for long. The carafe then started leaking. Due to expansion and contraction of the plastic parts, the bottom becomes loose, and the carafe starts leaking into the inner shell. ....

1.0 out of 5 stars Good coffee, terrible coffee maker, March 13, 2004
This review is from: Delonghi DC80TC 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
While this pot made good coffee for awhile, the pot itself is a piece of garbage. We spend a fair amount of money for it, and all of the problems the other reviews experienced we ran into. The No. 2 filters are too small and the No. 4's are too large. If the coffee is too fine, the water spilled all over the place. Over time the lid began to leak, and the coffee doesn't stay hot.
