Combat the agony of leaving a hot shower for the chilly household air with a blast of warmth from this fan heater. From industry leader, DeLonghi, the 1500-watt fan heater oscillates to spread heat through out the room. Best used as an enhancement to a central heating system, separate use of the fan heater also provides comfort in the fall and spring months during cool mornings and evenings. Small rooms, up to 12 by 12 feet in size, benefit most from the application of the quiet fan heater.

The fan heater features a convex grille format to allow air to flow most ably. With three power settings for varying needs, the fan heater runs low at 600 watts, medium at 900 watts, and high at 1500 watts. The fan can also run with no heat to circulate air in hotter weather. Equipped with ECC (electrical climate control) technology, this intelligent heat unit can sense a room's current temperature and displays this data on an LCD digital screen along with the time of day. The user can enter an ideal temperature level and the appliance will automatically adjust the output accordingly. A timer feature is also included, allowing users to both run heat for a pre-determined time and preset the heater fan to operate later on. Should the temperature dip to 44 degrees F, an antifreeze setting activates heating. To ensure safety, a PTC ceramic thermal cut-off stops wattage output and a notification buzzer sounds. DeLonghi advises against using the fan heater near a power outlet, outdoors, or near flammable liquids. Avoid running the power line under carpets and unplug the appliance when idle for the utmost safety. Thorough guidelines and instructions for assembly are included. A limited one-year warranty covers this item. The fan heater measures 17-2/5 by 9-2/5 by 12-1/5 inches and weighs 7 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

I'll start with what caused me to give it only 4 stars - which are really only nits.

First, the LCD display is very hard to read unless you pick up the unit and are looking at it straight on. In a dim room forget about it. They could/should have done away with the curved plastic and added a light.

Second, there's a slight ticking sound when its in oscelation mode when it gets to the extreme left of its cycling.

Ok, now that that's out of the way ... I love the variable thermostat. The LCD display shows the temperature at which it'll come on. I like knowing the temp and not just some vague high, medium, low setting. We like to keep our house at a certain temp in the winter, but some rooms don't heat as well as others and this easily gets a room up to temp. Our son adjusted the temp dial and before long the room was really really warm - a testement to its heating capabilities.

I'm here shopping for a second one.

I am from IL, so I hate air conditioned cold. I always have space heaters at home and the office. I have to buy them constanty, because they burn out. I have had this one for 2 years now, the programmable timer and temp part are easy and great. I paid almost $60 for this and am about to add this heater to my wedding registry and remove the other one. I didn't think I could still get this one! Great deal. Atlanta, GA

I use this heater under my desk in my office. Overall it is a good heater, but I have 2 complaints.

Like another reviewer said, the LCD display is hard to read unless you are looking straight at it in a well-lit area. Under my desk is dark, so I can't ever see the screen.

My other complaint is the on/off button. The on/off button turns the heater on as well as adjusts the fan speed. The problem is that the button doesn't have a strong push or click feeling to it (not sure how to correctly describe this), so in addition to not being able to see the LCD screen, I can't always tell if I've pushed the on/off button enough times (or hard enough) to turn the heater off. Plus, there is a slight delay before it actually shuts off. Not a major deal, but something that could be improved.

UPDATE: Now moved the fan to the nursery. Something I didn't pay attention to before is that the fan shuts off when the desired temperature is reached. Not a big deal when used under my desk, but in the nursery the clicking on and off wakes up the baby.
