4.0 out of 5 stars Low Profile Heater works Well!
This is a nice, compact radiator heater that is not too heavy to move around but sturdy enough to not tip over. It will heat up a 10x13 room without a problem and the room stays warm even a few hours after it's turned off. The radiator component is made of metal, but the ends are made of some plastic/resin material. The end material gets warm/hot during operation. The...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great heater, except for one major defect -- the noise!!!
I like this heater a lot except for one aspect that drives me nuts -- the noise!!!! It clangs and thumps at random intervals, so is not good for the bedroom if you are trying to sleep. If you wack it the noise stops but then may return at 4am. Since it's too late to get my money back, I'm going to relegate this one to the livingroom, and find another (quieter) one for the...

The reason why I took of 1 star was because the thermostat on this heater has markings from *,1-6 and does not tell you the temperature; the instructions just say that higher number is hotter. * setting is used for anti-freeze purpose, where the unit will maintain at a temperature no lower than 5 degrees celsius (this is from the manual); perhaps it was a hassel to put both celsius and fahrenheit on the thermostat markings. Overall, it does what it's supposed to, it looks good, I save energy by not having to turn on the central heating in my entire household, and it keeps me warm after it's turned off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for occasional heat, March 17, 2005

Good basic spaceheater, with temperature controls and a timer.
I don't use either of the features, but the heat works well, and the lights don't dim when i turn on the heater.
All I expect from a spaceheater is for it to warm up my chilly basement, and it DOES remove the chill from my smallish basement.
No quality issues, or reliability issues for 6 months now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice product, very pleased., January 19, 2005
This review is from: Delonghi TRN1015T Solaris Oil-Filled Radiator Heater (Kitchen)
With temps. getting down to 0 here in Ohio this year, we needed something extra for my sons room as his is the coldest in the house.
The little radiator does very well for a mid-sized room, it is completely silent in operation which is nice. Looks are good.

I would agree with the other review in that the simple numbering of *1-6 is weird, and also the way you set the auto-temp is also abit cumbersome.

All in all exactly what we needed.

Purchased three heaters for my home , due to Gas increase. They work BEAUTIFULLY. All three of mine are silent no noise what so ever and keep the rooms toasty warm. My cat "Flyer" (named after Philadelphia Flyers) also gives it a Claw Up as he has snuggled up beside it since day one :) PS...I LIKE THESE SO MUCH I JUST PURCHASED TWO MORE FOR MY SONS NEW CHILLY APT...Great gift with Gas increases going sky high !!! 10-26-05

I read the other comments and agree! This heater is worth the money. Purchased this heater to heat my bonus room. On the high setting, found out that it's too much heat. Adjusted to about 4 and found it to work great. Heater dial works 1-6 (1 being lowest heat). Works even better with a ceiling fan and using the timer.

2.0 out of 5 stars timer is difficult to use, December 7, 2005

This review is from: Delonghi TRN1015T Solaris Oil-Filled Radiator Heater (Kitchen)
I've never sent in a review before, but after reading the one posted Dec 6, in which the writer says that she loves the timer, I felt obligated to write. Another reviewer mentioned that he doesn't use the timer.

Having used oil-filled heaters (usually great) in the past I was hoping that the Solaris with a timer would be the ultimate gentle heater.
Unfortunately, the timer is nearly impossible to use. It is on the side and the only way to adjust the timer is to lift the whole unit- hot or cold, or get down on your hands and knees. The timer is 7" above the floor. Because there is no manual override, which is unbelievable, for occasional use it is necessary to adjust the entire timer- over, and over again. That's means pushing up or down 96 fragile little plastic pins. The timer is obsolete.
After closer review of other heaters I believe there are better products out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saving money and feeling warm, November 18, 2005

We use this heater in our kitchen. However, we are quickly finding out that it can heat much more. I have another one on order to put in the adjacent living room. Our house has gas forced hot air heat. At the price of natural gas these days, it made sense for us to invest in a couple of electric heaters instead. The great part about this unit is that it doesn't blow air around or make any noise. Its best placed near a window or door so the air naturally circulates around. The built-in 24 hour timer is very useful so we can wake up with our kitchen warm and not waste energy over night.

3.0 out of 5 stars it started good but 2 years into it not convinced anymore, November 14, 2006

This review is from: Delonghi TRN1015T Solaris Oil-Filled Radiator Heater (Kitchen)
I bought my first unit at the end of october 2004 and loved it! It worked great in my bathroom where I used to hate coming out of the shower, I liked it so much I bought a second unit that next year. That's where the problems began. The second unit was somewhat defective, it made a vibrating sound all the time it was heating, the unit is supposed to be super quiet but this noise made it so anoying! They wanted me to take it to their service department for checkup, instad the retailer game me my money back and took the unit back. I was left with one unit only. Now early winter I began using the first unit again, three days into it the noise began in this unit too!!!!!!!! I could not believe it! I thought that since I paid over $100 for this baby it would last at least 5 years, now I'm trying to see what the manufacturer has to say about 2 similar problems in different units. If someone else has had the same sound please let us know.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked great- now broken after 11 months., October 5, 2005
This review is from: Delonghi TRN1015T Solaris Oil-Filled Radiator Heater (Kitchen)
This heater works well when it works. I put it away in the spring and took it out the other night to find that it no longer gets power. I contacted their customer service for repair/replacement, and it's going to cost me $22.50 (UPS Ground) to send it in for service + whatever packaging materials I have to buy. It is also distracting until you get used to the clicking (I am assuming it's the timer making the noises).

Overall, I don't think I would purchase this heater again.
