3.0 out of 5 stars Campfire Girls - 'Delongpre' (Tornado)
Vaguely remember this Los Angeles post-grunge band. 'Delongpre' is their first full-length CD. It's okay, nothing to write home about - tunes I liked best were "Dang That Smarts", the Nirvana-ish "Hippie Shade Thing", "Thought Police" and the eight-minute "Songing". Personnel: Christian Stone-guitar & vocals, Mike Semple-guitar, Andrew Clark-bass and Jon Pinkus-drums...

Could do something for followers of Foo Fighters, The Calling, Fuel and (you guessed it) Nirvana.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally released, September 11, 2003

This is a great disc. For years I have been listening to the Campfire Girls ep & singles, mourning the breakup of the band and waiting for the release of Delongpre that seemed like it would never happen. This material was supposedly recorded back in 94, but wasn't released until 2002. A good chunk of the songs had been on the previous ep & singles, but some of the songs that were never released are some of my favorites on this disc (two girls, songing). I have yet to introduce this band to a friend that doesn't love them. This disc is really a document of them growing and writing together. A sort of time capsule. But for me, more than anything, it is a great disc that just wets my appetite for the full length disc that is due in Oct 2003. Check out this disc, but if you are new to the band, give it time to sink in. It is worth it.

the first song i heard from this band was butter cup and loved it.so i went a bought the cd,and was ready to enjoy the rest of the tracks on the album.thats where the problem came in.the rest of the songs on the cd are very weak an uninspireing lisin, its very rare for me to only really injoy one song from a band im into. most of the lyrics this dude writes are very cheesey from my point of view lil wolverine was another good track that thankfully eascaped the cheesey writeing of christian stone.ijustfelt letdown because from hearing buttercup i thought this band was gonna sound like dinosaur jr.but they turned out to be more of a main stream radio band.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just OK, December 24, 2002

I bought this CD at a Donnas concert, because the Campfire Girls were one of their opening acts, along with the band Your Enemies' Friends. Anyway, most of the tracks on Delongpre sound the same and get kind of repetitive after a while. A large majority of these songs are (or at least try to be) angst-ridden. The Campfire Girls most definitely sound better live.
