This review is from: Delorme Mapping Street Atlas USA 2005 Plus (CD-ROM)
As a map program when you do not have internet access, this program does pretty good. They've added home phone numbers (usually outdated by time of release) to the business info. There is an awful lot of information available with this program, albeit some is a bit outdated.
I bought the program for use with my GPS, as I travel frequently. I use my laptop (17" screen) with the program and GPS. About 2 or 3 years ago Delorme did a major format change with their mapping programs. One thing that impacted me is the commands and working with the program w/GPS became almost impossible, and definitely dangerous while driving. Delorme says take someone with you to operate the GPS & program. They are obviously aware of the issue. I travel alone 99% of the time. The old format was much safer to use while driving alone. I can't afford a navigator every trip. It's unrealistic, but sounds good for Delorme that they warn people. I've stopped buying Delorme map programs because of this, and the fact my eyesight has not improved with age. Their program's info is difficult to read, with eye glasses and not driving. I'm a long time Delorme customer. It's frustrating for me as I've always liked their products better than the others. I'm going to try to find a 2004 version. I can work around not having updated streets in exchange for a program that is user friendly w/GPS while driving.
