Delorme Atlas 2007,

I like it. It is simple to use if you have had the previous years, 2005.2006. Once I set it up it has proven to be very accurate. I just came back from Utah and it worked fantastic finding restaurants and places of interest. I wished it had true 3-D. But other then that I give it high marks in all areas of use. If you are a new user, read the manual and practice using the features first.Mike Z Long Beach, CA

horrible for PDA,

I got this item cause it was cheap compared to other software which will allow navigation using a pda and bluetooth reciever. The software has a very steep learning curve, is very slow and cumbersome. Has a convoluted process of initiation on the PDA and since the maps are inaccurate, it makes it a really bad buy. I am trying to return it back to the company. Amazon only gives 50% refund for opened software.Installation: The installation of software on to the PDA is a seperate process which is not explained anywhere except Delorme website. Once you load the software there is no manual, just a small tutorial. When you try to load the maps to the pda, it loads 3 kinds of maps (road map, satellite and something else). This will create huge files which will never finish uploading. You have the option to load just the road map which is faster. The map of each state itself is divided in segments, you have to choose each segment that you want to load. All the options have to be loaded before you upload the maps to your PDA ex: you want rerouting in 100ft, 200ft..etc you POI's, choice of male or female voice...a lot more. One more thing, the maps are not up to date. I have a OEM MS streets and trips 2004 CD and the maps in this CD are pretty much same as those..at least in the boston north area. Use: I found it fastest to connect to the bluetooth reciever (OnCourse) when you are not moving, the maps are preloaded on the PDA and the bluetooth feature is already switched on. Even then it was slow (upto a few mins sometimes). Calculating a route was another horror story. Unless you have loaded all the options, it wont find most of the streets in the "find" feature. The navigation feature is called "tracking" in the software which took some time to figure out. rerouting was a gamble. The POI's are not up to date. The restraunts, businesses are all a gestimate. We have a huge cinema complex near our house which this thing does not list. I am not sure of the features included for eg; xdata, logging..etc Havent used it much and already am tired of it. I hope Delorme will refund my money. I am not sure if my PDA was too slow for this software (Ipaq 4155). Also, if you want to use it with a laptop, i think MS street and trips 2007 is much cheaper. Maybe even more upto date??

Used to be good but those days are over,

I have been a user of Delorme for over 6 years. Problems are not only with the program but also with their customer service. Here's the gist:The program may give you points of entry onto a road when there is no need for them (i.e. it tells you to get off the highway to get back on by going in a loop and returning to the highway). The program takes an eternity to start. It may provide you routes that don't exist. Roads are outdated and/or identified incorrectly even if you upgrade every year. The voice feature works 60 to 70% of the time. You can barely hear the driving instruction(you will need to close the windows and tell everyone in the car to shut up). The option for speaking to the program doesn't work well at all (I have never been able to get it working properly). Be extremely careful with their Bluetooth GPSs. I purchased the blue logger and it has been vacationing in a case for 2 years now. The darn thing works when it wants (just like some of my employees) and when it does it losses signal. Tried to contact customer service and got response 3 days latter (though they did call me). I was instructed to remove the battery of the gps in order for it to reset itself. I did and what do you think happened? NADA!! And last but not least, The PDA option is a joke. It will take forever to upload the map to the PDA and it is EXTREMELY difficult to use. Don't even think about trying to use the PDA for entering address location for driving directions. It is just not worth the frustration. In true honesty, the only reason I keep buying the product, the software, is due to the price and my line of work. JUST DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy any of their accessories (GPS). Go with more reliable companies. I have never and will never purchase any hardware from them again.
