5.0 out of 5 stars Life keeps getting better
Before buying this product, XM radio scored a 10 out of 10 in my book. With this product, XM goes all the way to 11. Yes 11 out of 10. No longer do I have to reach across and change stations. In addition, the scan feature means that I am listening to more and better music. Like digital cable or satellite tv, you can now scan stations to see what's playing without...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!
Both my wife and I have this remote for our Delphi Roady 2 & Delphi Roady XT respectfully. We have the exact same problem with them. If it sits in the car on a hot summer day, it works fine. If I bring it in the house with my receiver to listen to XM inside - after a while, IT WILL NOT WORK! USELESS!! Please don't waste your money on this remote.

Having this remote makes my driving safer! I clip it to my seatbelt and don't need to reach across the dash every time I want to change a station.

Even better--the "scan" feature is a lot of fun. With so many stations I rarely got to hear a lot of what's available on XM. The scan feature is fun. It will scan either my presets, or the whole XM spectrum.

Also easier to save songs in my playlist. The large XM button is easier to find than the one on the corner of the Roady.

If you've already bought a Roady, spend another couple of bucks and get this, too. You need one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not only it's safer, but it makes it more comfortable., July 9, 2004

In my car the way my XM radio is positioned, I was getting cramps in my arm and shoulder pressing the buttons all the time; think about it, with all those stations why stay on one station if they are not playing something you like. So for that reason I needed the remote ASAP!

One complaint, and I think it happened twice so far. For no reason the remote failed to respond; I reseated the battery and all is well.

I was very pleased with the remote control for the XM radio. It is a lot easier to use than fiddling with the radio itself when driving.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little Unit, February 23, 2006

This remote works nicely, user friendly. The buttons DO NOT light up or glow in the dark, but not a big issue. Overall I think its a wonderful item and makes having XM radio safer because you don't have to take your eyes off the road to use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy addition, September 5, 2005

The Roady II is an excellent product, but if you're eyes are no longer what they once were, you will find its small buttons to be a challenge to both see, and operate in a bouncing vehicle. This is especially true if you must mount the Roady at arm's length or more. The remote control really is a "must have" item, and turns a very good product into an excellent one. The only functions missing from the remote are access to features that select basic setup items or options such as the selection of the display color on the Roady. For those, you still have to use the tiny buttons on the Roady itself. This is a no-brainer. Get one!

I have two - one for the road and one for home. You don't really need one at home, unless you want to be a little lazy and not walk over to the radio to change the channel. Having one in the car, though, is essential so that you don't have to take your eyes off the car in front of you. Works very well.

A very nice remote but I feel like I have to point it directly at the receiver to get it to work - even with new batteries. I also think that you have to press the buttons a little to hard to change the channels. Other than that, a good remote that has not given me any problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Necessity for XM Roady, February 12, 2005

This remote is a necessity for using the Roady 2 in the car. The Roady 2's buttons are just too small, you can't see the text on the buttons, and depending on where you end up mounting the Roady 2, you probably wouldn't be able to reach it easily anyway. As others have said, this remote makes driving safer.

I basically hold this remote in my right hand, and I use only three of the buttons -- the "down" button, the "select" button, and the "preset" button. The "preset" button is located directly below the "down" button, and the select button is located in between the "up" and "down" button (they form a circle), so it's easy to control this remote without looking at it. In fact, because the up/select/down buttons form a circle, it makes it easy for me to "feel" which way the remote is situated when I pick it up -- I don't even have to look at it, if I don't feel the "circle", I just turn it around in my hand.

It has a clip so that you can clip it to your visor, seatbelt, or any other handy place in your vehicle. However, if you push the clip onto something, it will push the battery cover out. I took the clip off; it slides right out after you remove the battery cover. Personally, I keep the remote in a cupholder next to me.

The buttons do not "glow in the dark" as advertised. They do -- ever so slightly, for a short while after being exposed to sunlight, but it's not enough to figure out what the buttons are in a dark vehicle.

Oddly enough, it comes with no instructions. The remote does not allow you to access the Roady's "Menu", so you can't change settings with the remote. However, it has two features that the Roady 2 does not offer -- a "jump" button, allowing you to switch easily between the last two channels, and a "scan" button, that will either scan your presets OR it will scan the entire channel listing if you are in "direct" mode. You'll hear about 3-4 seconds of each channel during a scan.

Also, don't leave it in a cold car in the winter -- otherwise, the cold temperature affects the battery and the battery and the remote have to "warm up" before it will work.

Minor problems aside, it's well-worth the money. If you buy a Roady 2 or own a Roady 2 without the home kit, buy this remote for the car. It enhances the enjoyment.
