Fast easy way to get XM satellite radio ......,
By Evitzee (Fredericksburg, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Delphi SA10276 Roady XT XM Satellite Radio Receiver (Electronics)
I have factory XM in my other car and enjoy it on long drives. So I wanted to put a unit in my 2002 Subaru WRX. This radio looked like it fit the bill; small and not too expensive. It is a very compact unit, about the size of a deck of cards and 1/4" thick. I usually have poor luck using universal fittings but I was able to use the vent mount which worked just fine and puts the unit at just the right height. I put the magnetic antenna on the roof above the windshield and carefully inserted the wire under the weather stripping, inside the door, and under the dash to the cradle on the vent. I spent a bit of time also hiding the cigarette mount power cord, and the cassette adaptor wires, so it looks like a pretty clean installation. After activating I get a full signal and good clean sound. I'd recommend this unit without hesitation. Just take your time to install it correctly.

Nice Item But How Do You Hide the Wires?,

I bought this for my mom as a Mothers Day gift and she couldn't be happier with it. It simply clips on the air vent then you plug the adapter into the car stereo's tape deck. The thing is there are wires everywhere, which doesn't seem to bother her but it sure bothers me. The manual advises to stick the antenna on the back windshield but gives no indication on how you would route it outside without wires hanging out. A previous reviewer said they just leave the antenna dangling on the car floor but that didn't work consistently when I tried it, so we have the magnetic antenna sticking to the passenger door.
Those things aside, the price is right and the service is neat. After registering with XM online (cheaper than over the phone), the service was up and running within 15 minutes. XM is great, I wish I had it myself-- and this little receiver has lots of cool, easy to use features. You might want to opt for professional installation though unless you have an inkling of where to hide the wires.

Continuous music.,

This is a great product, once you get used to having to find a new FM frequency in almost every major metropolitan area. My vehicle does not have a cassette slot, only a CD slot (single play), so this required attaching an extra wire to my FM antenna, so that I could receive the signal through my FM radio. Once tuned, it is outstanding, and after you've done it a couple of times, you can switch frequencies quickly.

I bought this several weeks ago and it had everything needed to install in the car several different ways. Went to their website and it was up and running in about 15 minutes. Sound is clear and clean on 85% of the channels.
The nice thing about this unit, is that you can buy a home kit with a remote and use it at home as well as on the road. The remote works in the home as well as the car. Belkin sells a nice case that holds the xm unit and the remote. The price for both the XM car kit and radio, AND the home kit with the remote cost me under [...] The prices on Amazon were great, on Ebay they may sell it cheaper but then charge way too much for shipping. Amazon gives free shipping. Oh yea, get it soon because you also get a [...]., so the whole deal cost me TEN DOLLARS....go figure.

New user to XM and this is my first XM radio. So far it's worked flawlessly. The unit is very easy to use, small, and has plenty of presets. Big screen that lets you modify the display to your liking.
My only grievance with the unit is the mounting hardware. It comes with two types of mounts and neither work for my car. The mount that lets you attach it to your air vents (A/C vents) is too short so the clip never gets around the fins/blades. The other method is to use the stand and that only lets you mount it horizontally. I need something that lets me mount it like a bobblehead. This is not necessarily a strike against the radio. Mounting is just a miss for my car. Signal comes in strong so far everywhere I've traveled. I was a bit disappointed that not all the stations are commercial free. Luckily whenever a commercial comes on I can just tune into another station. XM doesn't seem to synchronize all their stations to have commercials at the same time. Otherwise I'm very please with the XM service. Pros : Small Intuitive design Inexpensive Multiple presets Nice display Cons : Mounting hardware may not work for your application Sometimes the preset buttons are unresponsive. Doesn't happen that often. XM doesn't offer commercial free listening. Not a strike against the radio but the service.

Very Nice,

This is my second Roady and I like this one much more. It is very compact and very easy to use. The display is large and easy to read. I've read other reviews talking about attaching their FM antennas to this, but for me, I just tuned my radio to one of the FM frequencies and it worked right off the bat. I commute regularly from PA - NY and I don't have to change the frequency at all. I actually have an aux. input on my radio that I used to share with my old XM radio and my MP3 player. Now I can devote that input just to the MP3 player. XM radio sounds MUCH better using the built-in FM transmitter then the way I used to have it. I had an engine whine noise all the time before and I couldn't really play my stereo loud. I am rediscovering XM!
Now with the wires, ooh yeah, they can be an eyesore. I ran the antenna wire behind the dash, up the A-pillar made a short run from the sun visor to the moonroof and stuck it just behind the glass of the moonroof. The power wire I just ran it behind the dash and behind my "ashtray" where the power outlet is. Still not neat since I have to open the ashtray to plug the power cord in every time I get in my car. Not a big deal, but if you hate seeing wires it might be worth paying for a pro-install. As for the unit itself, I used the dash mount only because I did not want to block my vents (they move). The mount sticks on and holds on amazingly well. It has yet to fail and I have had this unit for a good year now, taking the unit in and out of the cradle/mount. All in all, I'm glad I got it. The one thing I wish it did have was a remote control. And a remote control that would be easy to maneuver through all the choices available.

Nice improvement over earlier versions of the Roady,

The Roady XT is the third iteration of the "Roady" series, and it's the best yet. The main difference is a redesigned control layout (improved in my opinion) and the inclusion of dock connector on the bottom of the radio, simiar to that on the SkyFi and SkyFi2. This makes for neater docking solutions, as it avoids the need for the bulky cables connecting to the left side of the radio on the earlier Roady models.

Terrific receiver; poor cassette adapter,
By Katy (El Paso, TX) - See all my reviews

This little receiver is great! It was a relatively easy installation and I had XM up and running in no time. I'm using the cassette adapter because it made the installation much easier than using the SureConnect FM Modulatator. There has been a lot of noise and my cassette player is constantly attempting to reverse the cassette and play the other side like it does when a tape has reached the end of Side A. Everytime it does this, the XM programming is interrupted. At one point, this was happening every 10 to 15 seconds. Very annoying. The problem is in the cassette adapter. The wheels are too stiff and don't move smoothly so that is causing the problem. Fortunately, I had both a Sony and a Koby cassette adapter I have used with my MP3 player and I decided it try them. Both worked great -- no problems whatsoever -- but I preferred the sound of the Sony. Since switching over to the Sony cassette adapter, the Roady has performedly flawlessly. No unnecessary cassette noise, no interruptions, just great satellite radio. To be fair, I didn't call XM and give them a chance to replace the cassette adapter so I don't know what their customer service is like.

My new car came with XM Satellite in its radio system, and I became so used to listening to uninterrupted music of my choice, that I bought a portable unit for my home. I am VERY pleased with my Roady Portable

Nice compact unit. Note that SureConnect actually is a long wire that hooks directly onto your car's FM antenna. If you have a whip antenna, it goes on that. If you have an antenna built into one of your windows, you run the SureConnect cable through your car and stick a SureConnect receiver onto your window over the FM antenna. Our Honda Odyssey has the FM antenna built into a rear window. I easily ran the cable through the car (between seems in weather trim abd carpet). Seems to work great for the price!
