The Delphines are essentially Dominique Davalos and Kathy Valentine, with the rest of the group changing on a regular basis. Described as a "bluesy-rock" band, the Delph's have released two records to date, The Delphines EP ( US only, I'm led to believe ) and "The Delphines" ( also known as "I want you the way I want" ) which is available on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Delphines have a very energetic but very stripped down guitar led sound, with a hefty supply of hard bass lines which combine well with Davalos's vocal talent. And the songs themselves are no different, this isn't bubblegum, this is hard hitting, mood effecting music that thoroughly deserves to hit the big time. The band usually performs in Los Angeles, and is very much a part of the musical scene there, although they have also performed in the UK and Germany ( and hopefully, they will again! ).

Okay, maybe the Go-Go's have a very specific fan base. And maybe the idea of bluesy-rock with a punk attitude is a bit hard to sell, but this album rocks! Both Kathy Valentine and Dominique Davalos kick it on this album. There are no 'weak' tracks on this album. Probably the most representative song for the "sound" of the Delphines is "Have a Nice Day." A definite buy for any fan of the Go-Go's harder songs.

First off, I love this disc. I really love this disc. Despite Kathy Valentine's presence, this will not remind you of the Go Goes (I like the Go Goes, this is just not them). This reminds me of late 70s new wave. Stylistically fits very nicely with Blondie, but with the edginess of the Runaways. There is a downside. I find that when playing this in my car I tend to drive faster. Could be costly.
