"There have been many research studies," states Millers, "that have demonstrated the effectiveness of a brisk 10 minute walk or other activity for weight loss." The latest of those studies was conducted at Brown University and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in October, 1999. This study reported that of three groups of women exercises the group that split up there workouts into 10 minute increments lost, on average, 26 pounds after six months; the same as the other two groups whose exercise duration ranged from 20 to 40 minutes.
