Super Saw Does It All!,
By
This review is from: Delta 28-299 Limited Edition 14D Saw includes Mobile Base, Dust Connectors, and Rip Fence (Tools & Home Improvement)
Also, this saw has a super-heavy trunnion underneath it -- heavier than the "you know who's" saw with it's aluminum trunnion. If you are interested in doing some resawing, get the riser kit. Then, pair the saw up with some of those low-tension Swedish steel blades that are so popular and you can run a 3/4" blade on it with no problem. I don't think the saw would properly tension a 3/4" blade unless you seek out these low tension blades, however. With the riser kit and these blades, this is a fantastic saw for resawing, and it's made even better by the super-adjustable features of the fence that's included. I've done a lot of cutting on my saw, and I'm extremely pleased with it. Unless you're prepared to spend nearly twice as much, I don't think you'll beat it!

First Time Band Saw Purchase,
By A Customer
This review is from: Delta 28-299 Limited Edition 14D Saw includes Mobile Base, Dust Connectors, and Rip Fence (Tools & Home Improvement)
This saw is definetly heavy duty compared to others I have checked out. It was easy to assemble, but not without a few snags. The bolt holes for the mobile base and the enclosed stand do not match and could not be bolted together. The bolts that fasten the saw to the enclosed stand had too long of an unthreaded shoulder and would not tighten down enough to hold the saw. I had to replace them with bolts that had full length threads. The bottom saw guide adjustment knob stop, set screw was not secured. The saw blade, which was factory installed, was installed with the hooks up(inside out). I found this out the hard way. After these few problems were taken care of, I ran the saw and was quite pleased with it's solidness and stability. And with the "hooks" down, cutting through a 2x4 was like butter.

Good purchase,
By A Customer
This review is from: Delta 28-299 Limited Edition 14D Saw includes Mobile Base, Dust Connectors, and Rip Fence (Tools & Home Improvement)
Have recently purchased this limited edition band saw w/fence, band & mobile base. All came in three separate cartons and was relatively easy to setup. It does reqiure a second helper to lift the saw onto the enclosed base. Haven't used the saw extensively yet but am pleased with the results so far. Reason for not giving it five (5) stars is that I had to do some tinkering around with leveling the enclosed motor base in the mobile base because there are no matching holes nor carrige bolts to secure the saw base to the mobile base.

This is a Great Bandsaw,

I finally was able to purchase the bandsaw I had been looking at for quite a while. The Delta 28-299 was everything that it's supporters had said. It's solid with little vibration. The lower guides are where they are supposed to be - up next to the bottom of the table. Even when the riser block was attached, the guide bar stayed true and vibration was minimal. The wheels were aligned well and the rip fence has good adjustabilty. Assembly was easy with well written directions. Make sure you have someone to help align the motor and drive wheel pulleys. The motor is heavy and is difficult to align with one hand. Dust collection is only adequate; it's the same as on other saws - not very good. I would recommend that you look at some after market accessories like a wheel brush and low tension blades to improve even more on a great saw...
