Delta Sliding Miter Jig,
By BJO (New England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Delta 36-205 Sliding Miter Jig (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased the Delta Sliding Miter Jig a second time (the first one was missing the formica table due to some packaging issues with Delta) and have been very satisfied. The product assembled rather easily and is very well constructed (it weighs approx. 40 lbs). After some minor adjustments to the miter guage bar I was up and running. The jig glides effortlessly over the cast iron top of my table saw. The miter angles are right on and the line cursor and angle readings make it very easy to adjust to any angle. The extension bar is very sturdy with provisions to cross-cut full length boards up to 5 feet. It also comes with a stop clamp and removable 45 degree adapter which is very useful for repeatative cuts. The work clamp is very handy and I particularly like the quick release feature. The table is plenty big enough to accomodate wide glued-up panels for trimming to size. The one drawback is that you need to remove your blade guard each time you wish to use the jig. But all things considered, this jig will definitely serve to replace my home-made panel cutter in a heartbeat!

Excellent for panel cutting.. Makes my miter saw obsolete!,

I recently had trouble making square cuts on some bookcase sides. The stock miter gauge that came with the table saw didn't have enough contact area to get a good square cut.I looked at the Incra miter guage at a local woodworking shop, when the clerk recommended this unit. It has given my saw new life! I recently had to make some dados on some 20" glued up panels, and this unit made it painless. Simply set the fence stop, and cut each piece... the result is perfectly bookmatched dados. I can't imagine doing some of my recent work without this jig. As a matter of fact, my DeWalt 12" miter saw gets less use now that I can make such decent cuts with this jig!

Getting a lot of use out of this tool, but not without flaws,
By A Customer
This review is from: Delta 36-205 Sliding Miter Jig (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am a novice woodworker and received this miter jig with my Delta CS. I've gotten a lot of use out the tool in a pretty short period of time, which is why I gave it 4 stars. However, I've had some of the same problems as others - unit is very heavy, so getting it on and off the table is a bit of pain. The weight should make for smooth travel, but I still get a fair amount of resistance - slot key is set to minimum width. BTW, first slot key I received was warped and I had to get a new one from Delta (who were very helpful). Also find you have to be careful with the stop because it moves 1/8" or more as you tighten it down. Those issues aside, the unit functions well - I've used it to crosscut plywood panels and hardwoods and have been happy with the results. This is the only sliding miter jig I've used, so I cannot judge how it compares to others.
