Makes the cut,

This review is from: Delta 36-225 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
Overall, a very good product. For those of us restricted to using a circular (e.g., skil) saw, using the CMS is a giant leap forward. Compared to the other models I looked at, I like the built in extensions, the horizontal position of the handle, and the trigger release for changing miter positions. I rarely use the work clamp, but it is a nice feature to have when you need it. Dust collection is acceptable.I could have used the extra capacity of the 12" model a few times now, but it wasn't in the budget, nor in my opinion, worth the extra cost. Instead, I just flip the work piece over and make a second cut. Not exactly a joiner quality edge, but adequate for my purposes. My guess is that if you need a precise miter cut on a board the 10" model can't handle, you probably ought to be using a table saw anyway. Don't get me wrong, this saw is plenty precise, but double cuts aren't.

A Best Buy! This saw is well worth the extra dollars vs the 36/220 or the 36/075 models. It's 15 pounds lighter than the 220 and can be readily moved from site to site. Compared to the 075 model it has a more powerful 15 amp motor and come with the support extensions and work clamp!

I looked and compared all the compound miter saws. I could have bought any 12" saw any of the big name makers but after comparing cutting abilities, prices of the saw and the blades I bought the Delta 36-225. I also built the portable saw stand in the back of the owners manual and everybody that has seen it also built one. A Tool Buddy of mine liked my saw so well his wife had me pick up the same saw for him last Christmas. Power, Portability and Price.

Great Saw!,

This saw did a great job. It was easy to set the angles accurately even after tightening down the screw (some saw's angles move after you tighten). The extension arms are a great plus especially when cutting long stock like crown molding. Blade wasn't too bad although I've seen better quality cuts with other blades. The power was good, and I never got bogged down even when trying the saw on thick wood. The "D" handle is also friendly on the wrists. I finished all the chair rails and crown molding in my house with this saw with no complications. Great bang for the buck!

First of all, if you are considering a miter saw, spend the few extra $$$ and get a compound saw ... when you need it, it is invaluable. After checking out several different compound miter saws, I settled on the Delta and have not been disappointed. The saw needed only minor adjusting out of the box. It has plenty of power and makes smooth, acccurate cuts. The ergonomics (visibility, handle, etc.) were better than the other saws I tried. Sure, a 12" saw would be nice, but a 10" is fine for the majority of the lumber I (& probably most other people) cut. Delta also came out on top in a compound miter saw review by Workbench magazine (...). It's a good overview of compound miter saws and I'd recommend reading it before you buy.

I shopped around at hardware stores and on the Internet. I couldn't find a higher quality saw for the Amazon price. In fact the major chain stores didn't even carry this model. I am very happy with this compound mitre. I highly recommend it for the home handyman. It has all the accessories one could ever need and has the capability to tackle any home project. You won't regret buying this saw.

My first Miter Saw,

Up to now, I've been limited to a circular saw, routers, jig saw, etc. I recently saw the 36-225 on sale (sorry Amazon) and impulsively bought it. I don't regret it a minute. The saw is tight, the table is solid, the miter and compound miter features are easy to use and are solid. This saw is accurate and a complete joy to own. The temporary work station shown in the manual is a great alternative to a permanent miter station and will do nicely until I can build a better station. All in all, a good tool acquired for under $180, less than I paid for my PC 690PK set of routers!

I bought the Delta 36-225 Compound Miter Saw a few months ago and its great. It comes ready to go right out of the box. This saw is accurate, the extensions are a big plus, and its easy to carry. If youre a do-it-yourselfer and you want a miter saw for those weekend projects, stop right here. If you buy a good blade, it will do all you want it to do and more. Its a great saw! If you buy this saw, your biggest problem will be keeping other peoples paws off it. My 70-year-old father keeps stealing it from me. I really need to get my house key from him.

I have had this saw for about a year now and I use it alot I like the handle postion so much better then vertical I like the power it cuts through everything I use A FREUD Blade useing lower quality blades may dul performance I have it hooked up to a shop vac almost no clean up needed unless you are a clean freak Its cuts are acurate (at times some tweaking is needed) I use mine with a Biesemeyer extention table and stop with a self stick ruler if you can afford one get it it makes THE DIFFERENCE A must for identical length cutsI have not use the Compound feature so I cant say anythig for or against it This would be a very good addition to your shop

A Very Good Tool--Excellent for the Price,

Accurate out of the box, easy to adjust. I built the stand in the manual for cutting long stock, and I stuck a Fein shop vac on it to keep down the dust. It might be heavier than the advertised weight, but it's manageable.I've used a Bosch 12" slider as well. It was so monstrous that it seemed to want to wander. The 36-225 saw seems to strike a nice balance between weight and stability. Do not buy Dewalt blades for it . . . I foolishly bought two in a package on sale, and I should have bought one Freud blade instead. That'll learn me. The Delta blade that came with the saw is better. Now, if someone would just write a review of P-C's 3812 table saw . . . |
