delta extention wing 36-541,
By Stephen Howell (Vandalia, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Delta 36-541 Extension Wing for 10-Inch Bench Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently purchased this extention wing and I am really pleased with its quality and ease of operation and assembly. I read a review on this site and was reluctant to buy it. The person who wrote the review was complaining about how it wouldn't align right with his table. The bolt holes do have a little play for adjustment. When you install it, you should move your fence right in the middle where the two are joined. Pull the lever down to lock the fence. finish tightening the bolts to the wing. When you are through, slide your fence back and fourth to check the alignment. I bought a wing for each side and both bolted up like a charm! I only gave it 4 stars only because I wish the wings were bigger. I feel it was a good deal and it arrived in four days.

Table saw extension review,
By Wakeslayer (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews

Well, what can I say. If you are planning to use your saw to rip wider than 11 1/2 inches, you need to have this extension. I am impressed with how sturdy the extension is when bolted to the table. Most table extensions I have seen have been flimsy and unsafe in my opinion. This one is pretty good when you finally get it attatched. I am overall pleased with the product, however; I had a few problems installing it. Here are my gripes: I think Delta should have used holes in the connecting side instead of slots. I had a problem lining it up with the saw table. The front edge of the extension didn't line up with my table and when the the fence was clamped down over the seam, it was not parallel to the blade. I had to file about 1/8 " off of the front inside edges of the mounting slots in order to bring the two pieces flush. The cheap little flat sided washers provided in the hardware kit should be wider and thicker. When I tightened the bolts, the washers pressed into the slots and the extension lifted above the level of the table every single time. It took a while to get it lined up. When I had it lined up as best as I could, the joint was still not perfectly smooth. We all know that this is important. I had to block sand the joint down with a piece of 80 grit sand paper to make the two surfaces join smoothly. Tip: If you sand lightly from front to back, you can duplicate the scratched alluminum surface that is already in the table and when you are done, it looks and feels pretty good. Delta did an outstanding job at making the extension match the original table except for the self adhesive ruler. It looks like it came from a totally different saw and leaves a 2 inch gap between the markings. Although I always gage my fence with a tape measure, it would have looked better if it matched. Finally I thought the price was way too high. ... Amazon was the best deal I found though, taking into consideration the free shipping. Go ahead and buy this one. You will be able to rip a solid 19 1/2 inches using it. It took me about an hour to do all of the above things I mentioned and I ended up with a pretty nice looking saw which is also much more functional than it was when I bought it. I hope this helps.

Works fine,

Unlike some of the other reviews, my unit attached straightforwardly, and the fence moves smoothly from table to extension. Takes a little care to attach correctly (I used a pair of C clamps to hold it in place), and the nuts are in an awkward position when tightening (I tipped the saw over onto its side), but no big problem.

It doesn't fit well.,

The rip fence doesn't track well with this extension. This is a major flaw that makes the extension less useful. The cost of the extension is way out of line for the quality.

Save Yourself ...,

This is a very poorly made accessory for the lower end Delta table saws. The mill work done after the casting is poor at best . My does not fit the table saw the way it should. When the extension is leveled to the work surface, the fence needs to be coaxed past the joint due to the poor fit. Delta does not seem to spend much time or money producing a quality for their low end power tools. My next power tool purchase will be from another company.

Find Another Way To Spend $38.00,

This is a very poorly made accessory. The machining done after the casting does not fit to the table saw. It is not even the sane dimension as the table saw it is suppose to fit. This causes the fence to not fit correctly and must be checked front and back before making cuts. If you install it flush with the bed of the table saw the fence has to be coaxed past the joint. It seems that Delta does not want to spend the time or money to produce a quality accessory for their lower end table saws. I do not think that my next purchase will be any Delta product.

Installation took 15 minutes to get the piece flush with the table top as well as the sliding fence. Works great! Very sturdy...looking into attaching another extension onto this extension.

I received this extension, which is constructed solidly out of steel. However, note that this will not fit a Delta 36-550 -- I own the 36-550, which is about two inches deeper than this extension is. This makes it so that the screws on the extension don't align with the holes on the table saw. I've reported this to Amazon, who will hopefully correct the item description.

Great product though there's not much to it. Installation was a breeze and it provided an additional 8" to the table width, which was a life saver for the project I was working on. I would have given this product 5 stars, but I do feel it's rather costly for what you're really getting.

No instructions are included for attaching it properly, but it is fairly easy to figure out. Nice addition.
