Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Back in the day, table saws were noisy, difficult to maintain, and most of all dangerous. Now we have the newer Delta 36-675 with its "right-on" accurate 30-inch T2 Fence System, so you really no longer have to use a tape measure against the blade. Lots of power in a 115-volt, 1-1/2 horsepower, two capacitor motor, V-belt drive and especially the Steel Wings for added stability of the stock. This gives the saw a table size of 40 by 27 inches, which is ideal for on-site or shop woodworking. With saw like this you could easily build cabinets rather than buy them out of the box. When in full operation the Delta 36-675 runs so smoothly that there is little or no vibration. For safety the power switch is located up front where it is easily accessible for emergency shutoff should you ever need it. -- C. Dwight Barnett

5.0 out of 5 stars a contractors review, March 1, 2005

This review is from: Delta 36-675 10-Inch Right Tilt 1-1/2 Horsepower Contractor Saw with 30-Inch T2 Fence and 2 Steel Extension Wings, 120/240-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have been in the building, renovation, cabinet-making and finish carpentry business for over 20 years. Most of the work I do is in and around the Boston, MA. area. I have been doing hi-end additions ($300,000.00 to $500,000.00)for the past 5+ years. I have recently decided to go into finish carpentry and cabinetmaking exclusively (I am not 25 years old anymore). I have all the tools I need to do on-site carpentry work but havn't owned a stationary table saw for some time now. I will be building cabinets in my shop and needed a heavier saw. I want a very good cabinet saw but for now didn't want to spend a couple thousand dollars until I am sure this is what I want to do full-time. I have been researching table-saws for about 6 weeks now. I decided on a differant brand with different features but was hesitant to buy it because it cost almost a $1000.00 for the features I wanted and it was still just a contractor type saw. Well, I was in the local home center and noticed a Delta 36-675 contractor saw with the jetII fence system and steel extension wings, not exactly what I wanted! The price was $399.00 so I couldn't pass it up. I figured I'll use it for a year and then upgrade to a cabinet saw. I unloaded the saw into my shop, put it together and did all adjustments necessary. It took about 2-1/2 to 3 hours (directions were very clear and percise). I sprayed it down with wd-40, let it sit for a while, wiped it down, waxed the cast-iron top and was ready to go( I did however toss the blade and installed a good Freud blade). Let me tell you I have never been so impressed with spending $399.00 ia all my life. It was smooth sounding and feeling with little or no vibration. I proceeded to cut some birch-plywood and some cherry with ease. I made a jig for the fence to cut cherry raised-panel doors for a cabinet I am making and it cut them like butter. I am so used to light-weight job-site saws in stands that are very loud, vibrate a lot, and if you don't hook-up a vaccum it blows dust all over the place. This saw just feels so smooth and is very quiet. Although there is no dust port or dust collection the dust drops pretty much straight down. I will still be buying a cabinet-saw in a year or so but I will be keeping this saw also.

For any of you home-hobbiest, this is a great saw for the money (even at regular price).

Pros- Made in the U.S.A, price, very good fence, good mitre-guage, location of on-off switch, plenty power, just an all around good saw.

Cons- Right-tilt blade, there is no dust collection (however with a little ingenuity you can set something up)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with saw thus far, April 28, 2005

I bought this saw a a local home center about 1 1/2 months ago for 399.00 I was upgrading from a bench top saw. This model had the things I was looking for good solid fence, able to accept stacked dado blades, bigger table much more weight and the price was unbeatable. The assembly was straight forward and clearly explained in the manual. Setup time was about 3 hrs. The only snag I had was the fence caught the back L/H corner of table. this was fixed by shiming the teflon slide on the rear of the fence with a couple of washers. Check Woodnet forums for more on this as it is well documented there. I have been very pleased with the operation of the saw it has cut everything with ease. I especially like the accuracy of the fence, once calibrated during setup you just move the pointer to the desired width and lock it down. The fence locks down square and the cut is dead on. Dust collection is the only issue I see with the saw and I have a shop made collection box for the bottom with a 4" elbow coming off of it and am working on a closeout for the back this should take care of the majority of the dust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic saw at a great price!, February 9, 2005
This review is from: Delta 36-675 10-Inch Right Tilt 1-1/2 Horsepower Contractor Saw with 30-Inch T2 Fence and 2 Steel Extension Wings, 120/240-Volt 1 Phase (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this saw from my local Home Center after researching table saws for a few months. This saw has everything that the average to experienced woodworker would need. The main reason I went for a Delta is that it can accept aftermarket accessories and is considered the industry standard in my opinion. The unit I purchased was already assembled and discounted since it was the floor model. I got it home, checked all the connections, belt and table with extensions for flatness and fired it up. It is very quiet and stable. I did the quarter trick and it passed with flying colors even after being in the back of my pick-up truch for 40 miles. I put a piece of 8/4 oak thru it and it cut it like a knife thru butter. The steel extensions as opposed to the cast iron ones does not phase me since I only paid $369.00 for this saw and plan to add cast iron extensions and a router table. There is no dust collection. However, there are many aftermarket products that will work for this saw since Delta really is the industry standard.
