This is a professional-grade saw – without the professional-grade price tag. The enclosed cabinet houses a fan-cooled 3-horsepower induction motor that never falters, even when faced with thick oak or maple. We love the 36- by 27-inch table on this saw: it's machines beautifully and is as smooth and flat as glass. The entire front edge is beveled for easy infeeds, and say goodbye to bruises on your right hip, because the saw's left front corner is rounded for safety and comfort. The right side is a 90-degree corner for a seamless joint to an extension table. The T-slots are clean and without the hint of a burr, and the industrial miter gauge moves like a dream in the grooves. Delta's T-2 50-inch fence is a pleasure to use, with its three-point T-square locking system and the hairline cursor for precision cuts. The fence face is made of extruded aluminum, and it attaches to the steel angle iron and tubing. It glides beautifully and locks down without any movement at all. It lifts off the rails in a jiffy, and the rails extend so you can use it to the left or right of the right-tilting blade.

Dust is always a concern with a table saw, but this design truly keeps it to a minimum. There's a 4-inch port in the back for connection to your dust-collection system, but even without that draw, the dust is blown out by the motion of the blade. I bought this saw and have been very happy with it. it was a difficult decision since I could not find out much information, but have since learned more. The first thing I noticed was the T2 fence rather than the Beismeyer. It's lighter duty, but has worked well. The far end of the fence actually hooks the angle iron on the back of the saw which acts as a hold down I guess. The only concern is that it could make an extension table connection a little more complicated.

Secondly the throat plate is more rectangular than the Unisaw oval shape. Aftermarket throat plates are not an option with this saw. This is not an issue with me, but could be for others. Custom made throat plates from wood or other materials are easily made with a router equipped with a pattern bit. There is not much space to the right of the blade for a zero clearance throat plate, but mine have worked well for over a year.

The only real issue I had with the saw was after I bought it I realized that the arbor is not long enough for a dado set... not a full one anyway. It felt like false advertising since a dado capability of +3/4" is claimed by Delta. The manufacturer states that the saw is capable but you have to buy an optional arbor (spindle) and throat plate kit. BTW you can't get the arbor alone. I've since done that, for about $40 I now have a longer arbor and a spare shorter (original) shaft. the good news is that if the threads ever got damaged the arbor is easily replaceable.

Lastly the base has large threaded holes on the lower left side. I don't know what they are for, but I'm curious. I suspect that they might be used for an optional sliding table support.

I definitely recommend this saw. It is a true cabinet saw and much sturdier than the hybrid for about the same price.
