If the paint color had been anywhere close to the color of my midi lathe, I might have given it 5 stars.

Also, I spent almost 45 minutes trying to get the darned thing aligned right. Then, when I thought I had it right, I tried to put the tailstock back on. It came to an abrupt halt at the connection point. Taking it back off and feeling the inside edge, I realized I had missed by less that a 64th of an inch. The positive thought was "Wow, the tailstock was sure machined for a nice, close tolerance, but what a pain to get aligned!"

Then it struck me, "Hey, why not use the tailstock as an alignment tool." So, I loosened the bolts, slid the tailstock to the midpoint of the intersection, tightened it up, bingo! Perfectly aligned! Do recheck with a dependable straight edge after re-tightening the bolts, though.

I highly recommend that Delta change their simple little, one-page instruction sheet to include that little tip. Turns a 45 minute task into a 2 minute job. And after all, some of us bought this configuration because of space considerations, and we are likely to set it up and take it apart several times a year!

I just got this in and it's a really solid piece. I used Dennis' advice in another review to help align it, and it was setup in 5 minutes. (Thanks Dennis) You do have to prepare some extra space in the shop for it though, as when assembled it's pretty long, and disassembling/reassembling would be a pain.

I got it for free with the mail in rebate program they had last year, but even if I didn't get it then it'd be worth spending the money on now.

We bought this as well as the lathe for my father (retired carpenter) this past Christmas. This is a must have addition for the lathe. Easy to set up, I gave my dad the tips from the other reviews.

Machining was top notch. Assembly to the lathe was simple. Instructions were clearly written. Extra length capacity was extremly helpful

This is a great add-on for the LA200 Lathe

Pros: Extends the L200 wood lathes bed to 37 inches; Sturdy; perfect line up.

cons: Difficult to line up

Overall: Its heavy. That usually means its sturdy. and it does in this case. Id recommend if you own the LA200 and are interested in getting a bigger lathe. what I eventually did to line it up was: I loosely attatched the hex screw and bolt through the lathe and ext. bed. I slid the tailstock and placed the middle of it directly on the connection point. I then locked the tailstock into place and tightened the screws. That seemed to make it line up perfectly first try.

This is a must have if you want to do any spindle work, with the suggestion of another reviewer it was very easy to install.

I received this heavy item delivered to my door. I checked other suppliers before buying and the closest was $10.00 more and I got free shipping. It was delivered quickly and is just perfect.

I spent about 15 min. puting it on. The fit on the outside cude to say the least the inside is fine where it does matter.

The extension maximizes the usefulness of the lathe. The addition of a "tab" to align the extension with the bed of the lathe would improve the ease of attaching the extension.
