5.0 out of 5 stars BEST CORDLESS TOOL SELECTION EVER!
As you may know I am a tool columnist for two boat-building magazines. I have now been using this excellent tool set for over three months reviewing it. These tools are made in China and the batteries are no longer available ANYWHERE! So once your batteries die - you are done.
If you want confirmation - go to any dewalt service store and they will tell you the same thing.

As you may know I am a tool columnist for two boat-building magazines. I have now been using this excellent tool set for over three months reviewing it. It offers the widest selection of important tools of any cordless set I have ever seen. A person could buy this set of tools and with a few other necessary measuring tools completely build a boat. There are SS brads on the market so corrosion would not be a problem.

The most exciting tool is the brad gun in this set. It can use brads from 5/8" of an inch on up to 1 ¼" and is very reliable shot after shot. The tools in this set form a natural progression to a finished product. They are well thought out and each tool works very well. I am no entry-level wood worker and I find this set to be remarkable. Delta has finally done something no other cordless tool manufacturer has thought of and this is their very first cordless set! BRAVO!

The only way they could have topped this set is to include a small shop vacuum. Hopefully other companies are taking notes. This is a great cordless tool set for anyone with ability.

4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe not the BEST, but don't shy away because of price, August 5, 2004

Just picked this up (at a local store) as a back-up set for my Porter Cable kit which is running out of batteries and I'm not sure that I want to fork out the money for new 19.2v replacements! Anyway, I bought this set for less than 2 new PC batteries. Not expecting much, the quality of the Delta kit skocked me! The plastic is high grade, the blades mount easily (saws) with included hex wrenches, the drill is powerful and feels good, and overall I am quite impressed. I highly recommend this set to any home owner or light duty handyman. A couple of gripes: 1. you have to remove the battery from the drill to get it in the case (this is your most used tool folks) and 2. the kit should come with 3 batteries. I haven't seen extra batteries for sale yet so that might be an issue down the road. Overall very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very decent set for the DIYer or amateur craftsman, October 15, 2004

I picked this up at a closeout sale about a year ago and have been very satified with the quality and value of this set. I've dropped the drill/driver many times and it still functions beautifully. The batteries keep a good long charge, often last several days with medium usage and several weeks while not in use. I've used every tool in it numerous times on home improvement and woodworking projects. The batteries are heavy, as expected for 18V, but the tools are ballanced well with the batts attached. The sander is the best cordless I've ever used, including some fairly expensive ones. My only complaint is that the flashlight doesn't put out much light for 18V, and is very awkward if you're trying to carry it around. Really, though, the set would be more than worth it w/o the flashlight, so it's a pretty minor annoyance.

5.0 out of 5 stars It will take whatever you throw at it., June 22, 2011
This review is from: Delta CL180WWK 18 Volt Cordless Woodworkers Six Pack Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
This Delta kit was bought on a whim as a clearance item at the local Lowes. I have owned my kit for more than 6 years now and have tackled just about any DIY or home improvement project you can imagine. The only thing it ever came up a little short on was the lack of the "trim" saw to cut 2x6 green boards, but that's why it's a trim saw and not a full fledged circular saw. Of course the Drill/Driver is the primary tool in the kit, but the cordless jigsaw is a beast in it's own rite. This little thing is awesome and will cut whatever you want it to, as long as you have the correct blade. Don't hesitate for a second to buy this Cordless kit.

Although it's made in Taiwan, the USA firm of Delta, of woodworking fame, has designed a set of relatively high quality cordless tools for the homeowner/casual user. They are not commercial grade. But have stood up to my weekend warrior abuse. All seem to have good torque and hefty feel, yielding accurate results.
For the price, I'd choose it over competing Ryobi and Sears kits.

This is a fantastic set, but I've had battery problems, too. However, you can take the battery to any place that refurbs batteries, like batteriesplus, and they will swap out the cells for a price. You end up with a more powerful battery in the end. Finding another shell to have a third backup battery would be nice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good tools, but the batteries are poor, January 5, 2007
This review is from: Delta CL180WWK 18 Volt Cordless Woodworkers Six Pack Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have two sets of these tools. I have used both sets for a couple of years and they work fine for the price. The drawback is that the batteries go bad after about a year and you can not find replacement batteries easily. When you do, they are around $100 each!! I have four total batteries and two of mine have gone bad (50%). Delta does not even list the tools on their web site and I have gone to many stores with battery in hand only to be disappointed that I can not find a replacement. I would recommend a tool set from a company that actually claims the tools on their site and offers replacement parts and batteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars for the price, you can't pass it up., December 13, 2005

This review is from: Delta CL180WWK 18 Volt Cordless Woodworkers Six Pack Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
i picked up this set about a year ago and have been extremely satisfied with its build quality. with a little over a year of use, everything still works flawlessly and the batteries are still as fresh as the day i bought the set. i personally use the drill the most, followed by the jig saw and the circular saw, and lastly, the sander. i haven't really found much of a use for the brad nailer as of yet. one thing i feel is very important to mention is the use of the flast light... i dont believe its truely intended to be used as a flashlight, but rather a means of completely discharging the battery before recharging it; at least thats what i use it for. BOTTOMLINE: its the perfect set for the weekend worrior.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Delta CL180WWK 18 Volt Cordless Woodworkers Six Pack Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
My husband poo-pooed this purchase until he heard the price. He thought it cost over $450.00. I'm so glad that I got it before Amazon ran out. This combo is just about everything a girl could ask for in a tool kit. The circular saw is smaller than Mac's big one and I can do things on my own. We are building a new house and this kit is wonderful.I used it to install 490 sq. ft of floor tile with no problem.
