5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Surprise
When I went down to the store and physically examined it, I rocked it back and forth to see how sturdy it was. It didn't seem very sturdy, but I figured it would be up against a wall and would be fairly safe. 1.0 out of 5 stars A Weighty Problem
This dressing table is advertised for babies age 0-3 years. The shelves are made of a thin composite rather than wood. When you open the box and read the directions for assembly you will find in large letters "Maximum Weight 20 lbs". This weight restriction means that most one year olds will be too heavy for the table. I suggest buying something stronger that...

When I took it home and assembled it myself my husband and I were very surprised on how solid and sturdy it really was! My husband and I took a step back and looked at it and realized how perfect it will be for our Flower Fields themed room. We especially liked the safety features like the safety belt and the reinforcement metal bars that go underneath each level!

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's talk roomy!, June 4, 2001
This review is from: Delta Children's Products Jenny Lind Changing Table in White (Baby Product)
This is a great solid changing table and it only took my husband 20 minutes to assemble. I did not care for the changing pad it came with so I purchased the more expensive curved pad (very happy with that as well, see my review). There is lots of room on both shelves to store anything you desire. I store receiving blankets, wash clothes, spit towels, bath towels, and diaper wipes (inside a diaper warmer) on the bottom shelf. On the middle shelf is where I keep the lotion, binkies, toys, and accessories that I need daily. I'm very pleased at the durablity and beauty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece for our new nursery, August 10, 2001

I put this together easily and was very happy with the price. As mentioned in other reviews, I was very happy not to pay more than double this price for most of the other models. It appears to be just as sturdy and durable - and I actually think nicer looking - than some of the others. Matches the Jenny Lind bureau which we also bought and loved.

**Tip - the shelves of this changing table perfectly hold Pier 1 fabric lined baskets if you are going for a 'Pottery Barn kids' look for about a fraction of the price!

There is nothing wrong with the design of this table. My wife and I registered for this, and my mother-in-law almost refused to buy it for us when she saw it at the store! She actually called from the store and said it was too rickety and dangerous-looking!! Well, I saw the nice folks down at the store she was in, and a few others that carry this table, and let's just say they didn't appear to be the real handy type - not furniture wrights, so to speak - and who do you think is putting the display model together? On top of that, the day my wife and I registered for the thing, we saw no less than 2 couples banging the heck out of the floor model, apparently to see how sturdy it was - but they did not dish out the same abuse to any other table that we noticed. Well, how long do you think *any* table would last under these conditions, even if the store's floor staff put it together perfectly?

I put our's together in about 45 minutes by myself, but it would be easier with two people. A word to the wise, though: THERE ARE NO "SPARE PARTS". You will use everything the company gives you to assemble this table *properly*. A very minor criticism of the instructions, not the table (so I didn't take off any "stars"), is that it left out installing some doweling for the shelves that adds some stability. BUT, it was pretty instinctive (I was wondering what those holes were for!) so I just went back and put them in (adding about another 20 min. to my assembly time). Remember: NO SPARE PARTS!

Some of these reviews are for used furniture, which I would recommend any shopper reading this ignore as a review. Firstly, how can you be sure they are talking about *this* company's Jenny Lind table, when a lot of companies make this style of table. Secondly, there is no way to tell if it was put together properly by the original owner or how much abuse they gave it.

My wife loves this table, she bought little baskets to organize things on the two shelves, and it looks great. Just remember, it is not designed for 100 lbs of books or baby lotion on each shelf, but for the everyday diapering and baby care products one can reasonably expect to be associated with a changing table. It goes perfectly with the Jenny Lind-style crib we also registered for, and has such high ratings from Consumer Reports (as well as also having a very reasonable price!).

If you like this table, get it!

UPDATE: It is now three months later, my baby is 19 lbs. and the table is just as good as the day I finished assembling it. I have not adjusted a thing or made any changes in any way.

UPDATE II: My son is now 7 months old and I adjusted the table for the first time last month. Just tightened the main screws, nothing major. We are pushing the limit with his weight, but he is in the 100% percentile for length - the concern for us is that he will be too long for the table soon!

When I bought this changing table for my baby I was a bit skeptical. Now I realize it was a great investment . Its such a sturdy changing. Its great a lot of stuff fits in the bottom two shelves, but must importantly the baby is very content when in this changing table . This is a must for every mom in need of a good changing table without forking out the money for more expensive ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Necessity!!, May 23, 2001
This review is from: Delta Children's Products Jenny Lind Changing Table in White (Baby Product)
I recently received this changing table and I find it to be a great piece for the nursery. It does not necessarily need to be used to change "BABY", it can also be used for all of those items you may need close by. I am using it to store all of my baby's daily necessities like, diapers, lotions, towels, etc. It has 2 shelves under it so you can store other items, like shoes, or blankets.

3.0 out of 5 stars How long will it last?, March 20, 2003

I have a four month baby, and while the table works now, I'm wondering how much longer it's going to last. The shelves are reinforced cardboard, not very strong. Yes there is lots of shelf space for all of the diapers and supplies that you get. I'm afraid that it's going to wear out before our first baby is out of diapers and I'm going to have to buy a new table if we decide to have another baby. I might as well have splurged...on one nice table that will last forever as opposed to two cheaper tables. The paint is flaking from me just rubbing up against it. It doesn't look the best and it's only four months old.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed., April 7, 2005
This review is from: Delta Children's Products Jenny Lind Changing Table in White (Baby Product)
Others seem to have had a much better experience with this item, and we can't understand why. When assembling the table, it quickly became clear that it was poorly made and the components were badly engineered. For example, one of the bars would not accept the screw that the manufacturer provided for it - the screw would not bite. The dowels were not well sanded and seemed as if they could cause splinters. We decided it wasn't worth continuing the assembly and returned it. Also note, the shelves are made of a very thin composite wood and are flimsy. This thing is overpriced and unsafe.

3.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied for the money, March 3, 2005

We have been satisfied with this product. It was not the most expensive changing table, so we feel we have gotten good value out of it. We did have one problem in the beginning, the first one we brought home had two right sides so we had to take it back and get a new set that had both the left and right sides.

The shelves are convenient for storing diapers , wipes and any other items you would like quick access to.

Our baby is now 7 months old and we are still using it.
