Great little stroller, January 15, 2009
First. I would like to clarify something regarding the way amazon is presenting this product. As you notice, the blue and orange options are more expensive than the green and red. It appears that you are just being charged more for the color choice, but in actuality, the orange and blue are another stroller all together. its the Pearl stroller and it is not the same as the onyx stroller. The onyx is the one you can take in a plane's overhead compartment. It doesnt have solid one handle bar, instead, it has 2 separate ergonomic handles, like an umbrella stroller. Look at the pic and you will notice they are different products. Also the rear wheels on the Pearl are much bigger than on the Onyx. Another major difference is that you can reverse the direction of the seat on the pearl so that your child faces in or out. You cannot do this on the Onyx. I clarify because I accidentally bought the Onyx thinking it had the features listed on the Amazon description. If you search for Delta Pearl stroller you will get the accurate description for that item.
As for the onyx. It is an excellent little stroller. Its not so little when you open it, it looks comfortable wide and tall. Also I was very impressed by the suspension system. It works beautifully on uneven terrain. The wheels are not the plastic graco kind that mostly shakes the whole stroller. They are hard but with rubber therefore, they absorb most of the impact. The stroller folds and unpacks beautifully. Just push down on the upper bar between handles, hold the levels at the handles and press forward. It even has a lock to keep it closed and stands when folded. The basket is not big as you can see from the pic but its deep. You can fit a medium purse or a diaper bag maybe on its side sticking up. What I like about it is that its not all mesh so things dont get stuck in the netting. It has a plastic bottom, therefore allowing you to retrieve things easily.
The Snugride clicks right onto to bumper bar. You just remove the fabric from it, click it in (it sounds when you click it), and as an extra security measure there are stretchy hooks that connect the car seat to the stroller handles. These can be left on the stroller, even when folding it so that you dont have to be looking for them when needed.
The canopy is actually good. It looked small in the picture but it covers about 1/2 the stroller. If you click the Graco snugride onto it, both canopies work together to cover your child completely if needed.
I had purchased the "protect a bub 3-1 canopy" thinking that I would need it for this stroller but now I think I wont after seeing how well it works.
I would buy a parent organizer with hooks for shopping bags, etc and place it on the handles given that there are no cup holders. But the stroller is only 15 pounds so I wouldnt over load it.
The seat does not recline fully and the foot rest does not move up, it is fixed in the position you see it in the pics. You rely on the harness for your child to stay in place, luckily its a 5 point harness that is very adjustable. I wouldn't put an infant younger than 3 months in the stroller The instruction state that the stroller is for children who have head control. My 3 month old can hold her head up no problem, but you have to see about your own situation. Luckily with the infant car seat option you can use it like this until your baby is old enough to ride it.
The reclining mechanism is very simple. Its just a buckle that you undo to let lose the fabric and recline it or your click it to raise the seat back. You can adjust the buckle straps to give you various angles but it doesnt lay flat by any stretch of the imagination. Which is why it is so important that you notice that when the amazon description says its appropriate for newborns because it lays flat they are referring to the PEARL stroller (in orange and blue).

I Love This Stroller!, March 24, 2009
I have the Crimson Red Onyx. As the other reviewer explained, there are two different Simmons strollers. This is the smaller of the two. I have been using this stroller for three months now and have no complaints. It is very lightweight and folds compactly. I keep it in the back of my car. I can pull it out and unfold it with one hand. It folds back up just as easily. It steers well and fits through tight places. I regularly take it to the park and use it on the grass, trails and around the lake. I have also used it at the mall, the zoo, in crowded elevators and doctors offices. It has done well everywhere I have taken it, on all types of surfaces and situations. I was pleased that my Chicco Keyfit 30 infant carrier fits in it securely, even though the description didn't say so. It does not have a cup holder, snack tray or big basket, so if that is what is important to you, this may not be your best choice. It does have a foot rest, small basket, good-sized canopy, 5-point harness, comfortable handles, padded strap covers and it reclines. If you want something lightweight and compact, but also sturdy and well made, that you can throw in the car and take everywhere, consider this stroller. I love it!

Great Purchase!, May 23, 2009
I wanted a lightweight stroller that could also serve as a car seat carrier to replace our heavy, bulky travel system. After reading many reviews, I opted for the Onyx. I have been using the stroller for a month now.
Initially, I wanted to buy the Graco Snugride 32 to use with the Onyx but wasn't sure whether the stroller was compatible with the Snugride Infant (22 lbs) and/or the Snugride 32. The description on this site does not specifically mention this detail, and neither does the manual. The box however does mention the model number of the seat but I never figured out which one it refers to. In the end, I purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 in an almost matching red. It fits in snugly and securely, but does not click.
PROS
- Lightweight and compact. Once folded, can easily be carried with one hand.
- Suspension provides an ultra smooth ride.
- Fast and easy to fold and unfold.
- Seems comfortable for baby.
- Can be used as car seat carrier.
- Nice futuristic look.
CONS
- Sun canopy is too small and inadequately shields baby when using stroller alone. This is not a problem when using it with the car seat.
- Handlebars are not ergonomic. Wrists get tired after a while.
- Handlebars are not adjustable. My 6'0 husband finds them too low, but they are perfect for my height (5'3").
- Both hands are required to fold stroller.
- The basket is small (8"x8"x10") and hard to access when seat is in recline position.
