4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice - one installation issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars I hated this faucet immediately, and it's just gotten worse.
The design of this faucet is attractive, but it's very awkward to angle to clean a sink thoroughly. From the beginning some of the sprayer openings were tweaked in random directions. It has a lifetime warrantee, but I was living with it because I didn't want to pay for another visit from my plumber. It was installed in January, and suddenly the pressure is poor. If...

I bought and installed this very handsome faucet just this week. I am very impressed with the style and functionality, however I do want to point out an installation issue that I had even following the instructions to a T.

The directions have you install a central "M" shaped plate, stating to insure you install it as far back as possible. Then they have you try and feed the pullout hose through the neck and through this "M" shaped washer, even with this washer installed as far back as it would go the hose would not feed through the washer. I found that feeding the hose through this washer while it is loose was the preferred method. I did however have my 12 year old pulling the faucet back (on the outside of my island) while I fed the hose, went right through.

Another note for people like me who have not installed a faucet in a decade or so is that I ended up having to replace my 3/8" flexible copper feed lines with 3/8" to ˝" braided steel lines to mate with the new faucets ˝" male connections. I understand the ˝" male connections are now the standard, it just so happens the faucet I was replacing was 14 or 15 years old (by the way another Delta).

Taking all of this into consideration I would buy the same faucet again and recommend it to all.

Although installation is straightforward and the instructions are very good, we had a plumber install for us since we had some other problems under the sink. The plumber was impressed with the quality of the hardware especially in view of the reasonable price. The pull-out handle works very well and the unit is attractive. We liked it better than high-end faucets with fancy finishes that we tried out that cost 2-4 times more. It's a good deal!

Installed this faucet a couple of weeks ago and am really happy with it. Can tell by the workmanship that it is well built and is easy to use. The switch from stream to spray is easy. The whole faucet takes up minimal space on the counter, but the detachable faucet is smooth working. Good buy for the price.

If there's a kink I can't find it, but it looks like I'm going to have to spring for the plumber. Feh. Now I have to find out if their warrantee service works better than this faucet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, April 13, 2009
New faucet installed as part of total kitchen makeover. The hose came unscrewed from the pull-out head just enough that, as I found later, it was leaking gobs of water internally anytime the tap was on. This ran down under the cabinets and RUINED my brand new base cab. I figure maybe I hadn't tightened it well enough on install. But it's only a knurled plastic knob - not meant to put a wrench on. I tightened it as tight as I possibly could. Well, it came lose again and flooded the cabinet and downstairs suspended ceiling. I'm really pissed! I will be taking this up with Delta. Checked it just now, it's lose AGAIN. Impossible to keep tight. Also, as other reviewer noted, it doesn't function well. The head had little O-rings to give it a snug fit in the receiver. Of course, they're long gone now and the thing is sloppy fit. Also, the switch from spray to stream has NEVER worked well. Unless you push it really hard, it won't go to full spray and "dribbles" as well as sprays. What a horrible product for the (high) price!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Poorly Engineered Disaster, June 9, 2010

Everything about this faucet shows poor engineering design and execution. I have had problems with this faucet soon after it was installed (by a plumber) 3 years ago. First, the faucet would not swivel from side to side because the copper water lines from the faucet worked their way out of the silly M-bracket used for installation. Then, it became difficult to turn the faucet off all the way (one had to angle the handle about 15 degrees off-center to stop the flow of water). Learning via the Web that this is a problem with Delta faucets, I attempted to remove the handle to clean inside and replace some parts. No going--the small screw holding the faucet handle on was impossible to move with Allen wrenches and I had to drill it out, thereby ruining the handle (to their credit, Delta was very apologetic and shipped a replacement handle to me when I called them). This too, I learned from other owners, is a problem with Delta faucets. After a short while, the failure to completely shut off re-appeared and I was back to square one, having to take diligent care to place the handle at just the right turn off-center to stop the water flow. After a while I just got tired of this expensive piece of junk and just bought a Kohler ( KOHLER K-596-VS Simplice Single-Hole Pull-down Kitchen Faucet, Vibrant Stainless ), and installed it myself. The only problem I had was removing the Delta, which seems to have been designed to be difficult to remove (e.g., special cone wrench required for special nut holding it on, etc.). Save yourself a headache and go with another brand, at least for your kitchen faucet.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent customer service, November 24, 2008
This review is from: Delta Faucet 470-SS Signature Single-Handle Kitchen Pull-Out Faucet, Stainless (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have had this faucet for a couple of years now. I contacted them about a leak after the first year and they sent me the parts out right away with no questions asked. I had contacted them again recently and they were once again very accomadating with no questions asked. I am very very impressed, I did not know that there were companies out there who actually stood behind their warranty.

Fairly easy install. No plumber needed for me. Looks nice and just works. My one complaint is the head feels a little cheap and flimsy. The button to change from stream to spray also seems somewhat cheaply made. I did not realize it is a slide, I would have liked a button to press and hold to spray. I have to get used to where I put my hands to move the faucet back and forth- I am always touching the button by accident!

2.0 out of 5 stars I can agree with most everyone in here, November 13, 2011
My faucet came with the house, back in 2007 and worked wonderfully up until the day before yesterday... Out of nowhere, as I am using the faucet/sprayer, with water "full stream ahead" the hose falls off of the wand.... Water is shooting everywhere and the hose gets tightly lodged down into the hub assembly... I have spent the last day and a half trying to pull it out with needle nosed pliers and it won't budge... Not even able to push it up from underneath the sink. I then attempt to go at it from a different direction... By removing the handle, the cap, valve assembly, etc... That was an impossible task. I have now given up and am heading out right now to buy a new faucet and it sure as hell won't be another Delta. All I can say, is I have learned a lot, being a single female/homeowner. I will be replacing this faucet all by myself and have NO FEAR of doing so.

1.0 out of 5 stars looks good, but is bad, February 19, 2011
DO NOT BUY - this faucet looked good and seemed a bargain. The design is very nice to look at, but the mechanics are very poor. Within a few weeks it got harder and harder to turn it all the way off without drips. Then it started getting harder and harder to rotate. It's now a year old, and we are shopping for a replacement.

The problem seems to be the design, where hot and cold are adjusted (diagonally side to side) in the same movement as water flow (forward and back). There is no defined position where the flow is reliably OFF. My office had these in all the break rooms and the bathrooms, and they all constantly drip. They had to replace every one of them.

We are buying another brand, where hot and cold is a rotating movement INDEPENDENT from the flow control (front to back).
