5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game
Delta Force: Task Force Dagger is the next in the line of, so far, 3 other Delta Force games, the last being Land Warrior and the next, Black Hawk Down. All have been created mainly by Novalogic, but this time they are being assisted by Zomebie Studios.

Delta Force: Task Force Dagger is the next in the line of, so far, 3 other Delta Force games, the last being Land Warrior and the next, Black Hawk Down. All have been created mainly by Novalogic, but this time they are being assisted by Zomebie Studios.
Ok, now to the good stuff! Task Force Dagger is supposed to contain about 30 new weapons, and 25 new missions, but probably one of the coolest features is that you can choose from different types of characters, not just gunner, sniper, cqb, medic, nader, from Land Warrior, but things such as SEALS, Army Rangers, and, of course, Delta Force operatives. The enourmous levels given out by Novalogic and enourmous servers hosting countless numbers of players won't stop in this game either.
The game was planned to be released on May 22nd i believe, but was pushed back until June 26th, and God knows why Amazon but nobody else has it, so it may be better to wait a little while before purchasing the game, because the only real point to buy the game is for the multiplayer ability.
Stats are recorded. Your time in the hill, number of flags captured, kills, shots, everything. That is one awesome feature, and the better your statistics are, the higher you move up in rank. The single player game is the only weakness of the franchise, enemies have never been very smart, and a simple one shot with the pistol in the leg can take an enemy down. More teamwork could be used in the missions as well as other features, but the co-operative mode can be a blast, but can be pretty dull sometimes.
The game comes with a mission editor in which levels can be created by the public and played on Novaworld. That is also an interesting feature that proves to be very beneficial, even though the maps created by Novaworld are also pretty wonderful.
This game has got to be one of the greatest multiplayer marvels of all time, and will give the various Star Wars and other multiplayer games a run for their money, with almost all players that have Land Warrior already hellbent on picking up this next game in the popular series.
The only down side is the single player missions, but users can also create their own, and multiplayer is all you'll really do once you get the game. It's a great game and i recommend you to purchase it.

This game has improved graphics over Delta Force Land Warrior. Anybody who says otherwise has NOT tried this game yet. When you are looking through your scope your sights will wobble a bit when standing, but the more secure your stance the less this happens (an improvement over solid stances in DFLW). As an avid gun enthusiast I can say this game has the most realistic aiming and ballistics I have seen yet in a video game. The AI has been improved but not by much.

In another review I read on this site somebody claimed Novalogic never updates their games. I think he should check the Novalogic site as a few weeks ago they released a patch for Delta Force Land Warrior which at least temporarily hampered the cheaters that use trainers which can do such things as unlimited ammo or extreme zooms. I love this game and it is definitely worth buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars To each his, or her, own..., March 7, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Delta Force: Task Force Dagger (CD-ROM)
Being a fan of Novalogic's Delta Force series, and military FPS' in general, I was stoked when this game hit the shelves last Summer. This game didn't disappoint me and I'm still playing it regularly 6 months or so later. I've played both SOF's, Rainbow Six, Wolfenstein, etc and none of them grab me like these DF games do; especially DFTFD! Many argue that the Afghanistan backdrop was a marketing device, and make complaints about the game's weak enemy AI, but let's face gaming reality people:

single play is for basic training, what really makes this game is it's multi-play and it's as-you-go miltary ranking system. As anyone who's played these games knows when you make General, after struggling for so long to get there, you really feel like you've accomplished something. Another MAJOR point in favor of this game is the no hassle servers provided by Novalogic. No Game Spy type hassles here, just log on and let that M4 Sopmod rip on automatic. Any game has its problems (Wolfenstein anyone?)
but TFD's are overshadowed by great multi play, up to the minute storyline, new weaponry, and Novalogic's excellent servers. Now that it's less than 20 bucks, with Novalogic's latest
Black Hawk Down arriving in stores in a few days, you won't get so bummed if you dont dig the game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Too Many BUGS...., July 6, 2002

If your a fan of the Delta Force Series, this is still a must. I love it BUT they really rushed to put it out to market. There is a lot of bugs. For one example, The mission: Capture the General that is protected by 3 guards in the tallest building. I never got to the building, I never saw the gaurds, but when I killed the last bad guy outside the building, it said Mission Complete". There a few missions like this. Other missions say kill everyone, and after killing 10 of 15 bad guys, it said the mission was finished. But still it was worth playing because of the current events taking place in the middle east. Time flew while I played it, and finished the game in 2 days. I was disappointed that the campaigns where the same as quick missions, unlike DF past games. Being a sniper in the helicopter was the BEST mission! I can't wait for Blackhawk Down, BUT PLEASE TEST IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its LW for Afghanistan, May 20, 2002
This review is from: Delta Force: Task Force Dagger (CD-ROM)
Delta Force is the simply the best FPS. Although Novalogic's engine isn't the best - when it comes to multiplayer nothing else stands in it's way. In addition, the DF community is sure to grasp TFD the same way it has with the other titles. So you can look forward to hundreds of maps and dozens of great mods.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as people make it out to be., October 8, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Delta Force: Task Force Dagger (CD-ROM)
The game boasts improved graphics and sounds as well as the addition of new weapons such as the SLAM which replaces the Satchel charge and the M4SD which will choose to be a worthy replacement for the PSG since it's rate of fire is far superior. Online gaming introduces a new suite of maps which although addicting tend to be too fast in the search and destroy arena. The sniper scopes appear to be off slightly shooting a little higher than the reticle displays. Sounds have been improved so that the weapons closely match their real world counterparts. Unfortunately cheaters have plagued the Nova servers since the first month so if playing online be prepared for the 35MPH belly crawler. Despite the short missions and online annoyances the single player boasts a tiny increase in difficulty from it's predecessor. Like their DFLW counterparts, these enemy when not standing totally still or facing the wrong direction, frequently run around in a stupor but tend to be a little more accurate. I have played the game at it's highest level of difficulty and the enemy has continuously proven to be idiots. All in all it is an enjoyable game and the variety of missions available both on and offline make it worth purchasing once the price drops which has already happened once.

In Task Force Dagger they added a few weapons and incorporated more missions with caves and city infiltrations. I've played all the Delta Force games and this one is by far my favorite. They didn't change the flavor like many developers do, so you still get the original Delta Force game play. There are more weapons and more detailed missions but it's not different or enhanced from the previous games. I can't wait until Black Hawk Down comes out, now that looks awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars A continuation of LW, November 8, 2002
This review is from: Delta Force: Task Force Dagger (CD-ROM)
Hey its all good man. DFLW and TFD both give up realism for playability, but thats what makes me fire these games back up again and again. Other simulations are not quite on the mark, such as Ghost Recon, where the terrorists can pop you with an iron-sight AK47 from over 500 yards and your movement is very clunky.
My only criticism of both LW games is the FNG and the M249. Too many players run around firing madly with this gun and can hit you from amazing distances. This is just plain unrealistic. They should modify the physics of these two weapons to make them very inaccurate past a certain range. I can always spot a bad player when I see him bouncing around near hills firing away with an FN, taking advantage of 2 major bugs, the 'hill bug' and the unrealistic accuracy of the FN.
Multiplayer is the best part of this game bar none. Playing against humans is better than playing against the computer.

Since there isn't too much thats new here, buy it when its in the sale bin.
