. . . Upon reading this book over once, then going back and working through it a second time, I pronounce it my first perfect '10'. This is the most literate, researched, extensive and useful supplement ever written for any role-playing game.
The Verdict: Now all the other companies have a new bar to reach for...and you, Gentle Reader, need to go buy this book. -- Mike Daisy, Gaming Outpost
I swear; sometimes Pagan Publishing refreshes my faith in the gaming industry in a single stroke. Delta Green: Countdown is one of the largest CoC books that I've ever seen; it's about the same size as Horror on the Orient Express, with approximately the same density of information - and, even more importantly, it has the same globe-spanning feel, going from Britain to Russia to Asia to back home. It isn't a campaign, but it does have enough information to run several - the individual sections that comprise the book are worth $20 on their own. Considering that you get seven of them, plus three adventures and a boatload of extra occupations for Delta Green investigators, I'd say that Countdown's $40 price is eminently worth it. -- Darren MacLennan, RPG.net 08/16/99

A CoC supplement that kicks ... and takes names...,
By
This review is from: Delta Green: Countdown (Call of Cthulhu Horror Roleplaying, Modern Era) (Paperback)
Well worth the seemingly hefty price. In addition to containing source material that benefits *any* modern-day game (e.g. details on international law-enforcement agencies), it includes expansions on things alluded to in the main Delta Green book, such as the Army of the Third Eye, and new icky horrors like the Skoptsi. There is also wonderful information on ghoul society and on the "King in Yellow"/Hastur mythos, concluding with "Night Floors," which is in my opinion one of the best damn adventures ever written.

An essential supplement for Call of Cthulhu!,

If you already have Delta Green, Countdown should be your next purchase (if you don't have Delta Green, BUY IT!!!). Countdown adds write-ups for PISCES (Britain), GRU SV-8 (Russia), The Skoptsi, The Outlook Group, Phenomen-X, Keepers of the Faith (Ghouls), and a new look at The Hastur Mythos. Add rules for the Gift (Psychic Powers) and international templates from all over the world and you have a book that would be cheap at twice the price!!Pagan Publishing has done it again!!!

A Dark, Frantically Phenomenal Experience,
By Benjamin (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Delta Green: Countdown (Call of Cthulhu Horror Roleplaying, Modern Era) (Paperback)
Words do very little justice in describing how detailed and rich this accessory makes any Delta Green campaign. Countdown provides page after page of deliciously bizarre, horrific nasties that will keep players enticed for years of game play. It's so good you'll feel your sanity slipping from your grip with each new conspiracy and threat.
