2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't fit any of my 3 bikes
We have 3 bikes in the house, all 20+ year old cruisers, with various size frames and seat posts. It didn't occur to me that this rack might actually not fit any of them, but it turns out that all the seat posts are too small for this rack. When I actually busted out the calipers and measured them, the seat posts are all smaller than 24 mm. Go figure.

I am totally happy with this rack. I have a nice lightweight road bike that I don't want to clutter with a fixed rack but I wanted to have the capability to carry some extra gear or run some errands when I felt like it. This rack is PERFECT for that. I am impressed with the high quality material and welds, and the quick release function works great. I just did a 40-mile ride to Costco and stocked up with a rack trunk (fits perfectly on the Delta rack under my saddle) full of vitamins etc. The rack was rock-solid and vibration free. The tag that comes with the rack actually states a carry capacity of 40 lbs vs. the 25 mentioned here but I would be a bit wary of that much load. Very high quality, nice lightweight rack with super-easy on and off mounting. Five stars all the way for my purposes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Functional Bike Rack - With some Warnings, May 14, 2007
This review is from: Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Quick Release Bicycle Seat Post Rack (Sports)
I purchased this rack to carry Medical First Aid Supplies on a 180 mile, 2 day bike ride (I am a Paramedic riding as a medic). The rack was completely functional, and I used it successfully on my Canondale road bike. There are, however three issues that need to be published to potential buyers using road bikes:
1. The metal teeth on the inside of the clincher are dangerous for use on carbon fiber seat posts (might damage the post).
2. The size of the seat post clincher is wide for a narrow road bike seat, and rubbed against my legs during the ride. (not too bad)
3. The rack with a load will change the weight distribution to the rear on the bike, and standing up on the pedals on a climb will cause the bike to fishtail slightly more than normal. (I was able to compensate after a couple of hours and minimized this problem)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Easy, but needed reflector/light adapter, April 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Quick Release Bicycle Seat Post Rack (Sports)
Love my quick release rack. Super easy to install - nice secure fit. My only complaint would be that Delta only provides the included reflector mount, which doesn't work with most reflectors since they're almost always designed to fit onto posts and will only mount onto their adapter if put on sideways with additional hardware. Want a light back there? Too bad, so sad. But that wasn't a good enough answer for me. So....

How to mount any post-mount light/reflector on a Delta Post Haste Rack:
You will need a 1-7/8 inch length of 3/4-inch PVC pipe, an equal length of 3/4-inch wooden dowel, one 3/16 x 1-1/4 inch fender washer, one 2-1/2 inch #10 bolt and one #10 nut (or wingnut for super easy install). Drill a hole down the center of the length of dowel. (The dowel is merely to fill the space within the PVC pipe and, so, stabalize it over the washer. If your patient, you could just fill the PVC pipe with a spray of Great Stuff, then drill out the path for the #10 bolt.) To install, insert the #10 bolt down through the top of the rack using the same pre-drilled hole they have provided for their so-called reflector adapter. Insert the drilled-out dowel piece into the PVC pipe before slipping the entire works onto the bolt from beneath. Add the washer and wingnut, then tighten. That's it. You now have a lightweight simulated seatpost onto which any seatpost light can be mounted. The washer has a larger diameter than the PVC by about an eighth of an inch. This will help prevent any loosening strap or sudden, unavoidable pothole from leaving your light somewhere on the road behind you.

I don't know why Delta doesn't make something like this available, either with the rack or as a separate add-on. Other manufacturers make add-on mounts for their racks, but I like the Delta rack better. It just seems to be a better rack than the competition's. So, don't let the lack of an adequate light/reflector mount for this rack disuade you. A little innovation can make all the difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, February 18, 2010

I purchased this rack for a road bike with a carbon seat post and, in order to not compromise the integrity of the seat post structure from the rack teeth gripping into the post, I covered the gripper clamp on the rack with the hook part of velcro tape and the seat post with the loop (soft) part. So the clamp fits tightly onto the post, the teeth grip into the the velcro and the velcro provides and additional secure attachment method while saving the carbon seat post from 'clamp teeth failure' :-) It works well and keeps the rack very securely mounted without any movement on the seat post. This rack is relatively light weight, fairly minimal looking, secure and looks pretty aerodynamic on the back of a road bike. It's a good choice if you don't want to totally weigh the back of your bike down but want more than a saddle bag to store gear, and you can easily switch it to other bikes. I like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Looing Rack, July 28, 2007
This review is from: Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Quick Release Bicycle Seat Post Rack (Sports)
I bought this rack a few months ago. So far it's worked great in a tight spot when its a must I carry something extra in tow, such as extra books from the library. Official and nice looking and it's very light-weight. Easy to assemble on the bike. My only drawback is that it moves a bit if you don't give it a firm twist of the screw. I'm OCD when it comes to things looking perfect and lined up on my bike.

I got this for my road bike on those rare occasions when I want to carry something (usually a U-lock and street shoes when I want to ride to an event and walk around when I get there).

At first I was having troubles with it swinging to one side or the other while riding, but then I wrapped an innertube around my seat post to give it a better surface to grip onto and it stayed in the position I wanted it in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, September 29, 2011

I ride a Cannondale CAAD 8 to class and work regularly and found carrying a bag on my back uncomfortable after a while. A conventional rack would not work on the bike so i opted for the Delta Mega Rack. After two months of use, I found the Delta rack works very well, keeping my back pack solidly in place under cruising and hard hill climbing.

My only complaint was the clamp potentially scratching the seat post, which is made of carbon. I fixed this by wrapping the post with a piece of rubber and clamping the rack over it. I have had no problems with the product. I am very happy with the purchase.

Fantastic Rack, Installed with QR in 2 minutes,
Plenty of room, was able to still use my under seat bag,
and still have plenty of room on rack. Numerous bungee
hold areas. I also got the sunlite bungee hold. Also
will serve as a Fender...Light weight aluminum.

4.0 out of 5 stars good for full-suspension, August 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Delta Mega Rack Post Haste Quick Release Bicycle Seat Post Rack (Sports)
I used to have this for my old bike (that got stolen) and I'm getting it again for my new one.

I have a rack mainly because I like to and/or need to carry stuff with me, much as any other biker needs a rack for.

However, fixed racks do not work with full suspension bicycles and this is the only fix for that (that I know of). Granted, serious 'extreme' mountain-bikers do not want a rack (but then you wouldn't be lookin at this if you weren't)--it is quick-release though which allows you to remove it whenever you don't need/want it for whatever reason.

My only complaint is the inability to mount a rear-light on it (easily), because most rear-lights mount to the seat post, which in this case is taken up by the rack. Do-it-yourselfers of course could make a rig to do just that.

I would suggest getting some kind of cargo-net in conjunction with this to secure things on it, or perhaps latch on a crate of some kind if you need even more cargo area.
