Not my cup of tea,
By
This review is from: The Delta Ladies (Mass Market Paperback)
My mother really likes this author, for me this story just did not satisfy my tastes. I felt like the characters were to one sided without much meaning to them. They kind of felt sterotyped. If you want to really see characters in the south, that have alot of depth check out the movie Sordid Lives. The story did hold some suspense and some good sexual energy but the content would sometimes dip into areas where it didn't feel good. Now that would be okay but nothing seemed to get resolved or actually things that were dysfunctional, were not made apparent to the reader. It just was not my cup of tea, but my mom loved it. So I guess it just depends on the reader. Lisa Nary

I have loved everything that Fern Michaels has written, UNTIL I READ THIS BOOK. I did not like most of the characters at all. Keli, the minister and Kevin's "father" were the only ones I cared about. Having Beth in love with her own brother and having sex with him was just plain sick. If this had been my first time to read Michaels, I would not read another. Fortunatley I have most of her books and love the Sisterhood series. If you want a book full of meaningless sex maybe you will enjoy, but it is not my taste. No one wants to read a book with so many despictable characters. You have painted a picture of the South that is shoddy at best.

I am not sure who wrote this book since it is very different than other books written by this author. It is awful. I threw it away without finishing it - a first for me!

The Delta Ladies,

I find stories about 'southern bells' tend to drag for me. I'm not a fan of the pretend 'old fashion' version of society. So, I did not find this one of Fern Michaels finest books. And I was disappointed because I usually really enjoy her writing.

worst book ever!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Delta Ladies (Hardcover)
I unfortunately checked this book out at my local library hoping that I could enjoy different authors. I must say I am never reading another book from this author ever. This book is one of the worst books I have ever read. I don't know if it was just the copy I had but first off there were a lot of misspelled words which was very frustrating. The storyline was extremely flat. I kept waiting for things to get better but they didn't. Also, I don't feel this book portrays Southern women at all, the characters were not well developed. All in all this book was bad!!

most depressing "romance" I've ever read,

I've never written a review before, but this book is so disturbing, I had to comment. This book deviates from Fern Michaels' usual happy style. Romance novels usually provide entertainment and joy. NOT THIS TIME. Nearly every character was either off-balance mentally (and NOT just a tad), or was the victim of a person who was mentally off-balance. The last 50 pages or so bummed me out so bad it seemed necessary to write this. Sure wish someone would've warned me!
