A review of the Deltora Book of Monsters,
This review is from: The Deltora Book Of Monsters (Deltora Quest) (Paperback)
This book is excellent if you enjoy Deltora Quest and Deltora Shadowlands. It gives information on many of the creatures mentioned in the books, so that you can have a better visual of the book. It is useful to keep around as you read the books, so that you can pick it up and read about monsters from the book. You can also see a picture, so it is much easier to visualize the book as you read.

The Deltoran Field Guide,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Deltora Book Of Monsters (Deltora Quest) (Paperback)
Whenever you're reading a Deltora Quest book with it's somewhat vague description of its monsters don't you wish you just had a picture there so you'd know what Emily Rodda was getting at? If so this book is the answer. Rather than just give a page dedicated to what the monster does and a vague description it also gives you a picture so you know what the monster looks like from the perspective of the fussy palace librarian Josef. Plus as an added bonus it features two monsters to be featured in THE DRAGONS OF DELTORA BOOK # 3 THE ISLE OF THE DEAD. And be on the lookout for a new book similar to this called THE TALES OF DELTORA which Emily Rodda hints to in THE DRAGONS OF DELTORA # 1 THE DRAGON'S NEST. PS. That monster on the title page is the Wennbar.

Great addition to the Deltora series,

My son enjoyed comparing the artist's rendering of the monsters with his own imagination. Not really a book to read, more a reference book.

A GREAT COMPANION TO THE QUEST SERIES,

My son (only 5) listened to every one of the Deltora Quest series (which have little or no pictures) and he liked being able to refer to the Book of Monsters to get an idea of what the various creatures looked like. We really enjoyed having this in hand while we read the other books. Great pictures, mildly irritating narration to the drawings.

Since my son is crazy about the Deltora Quest series, this was a wonderful addition. We only wish we had had it along with the early books in the series, because it offers a lot of insight that we would have loved to have known about while reading the series from the beginning. A must-have for one who loves this series!

Very satisfied son!,

My son is doing a project for school based on the Deltora series. He was so excited to see what the characters and monsters were actually suppose to look like compared to what he had imagined. He is really enjoying the book. To me, the book seemed a little pricey for what we got, but because he was happy, it was worth it.

Gorgeous little extra,

This is definitely a book for the Deltora fans and maybe lovers of more-than-decent fantasy art. I like how this book is set up as having been written by Palace Librarian Josef, for there is just something cool about an attempt to keep this a very real part of the series. However, besides being evidentally "cool" this really adds nothing to the overall Deltora series. Everything in this book are already basically told elsewhere. Still, it's a great little extra and I suppose that is what matters.
