5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Caught In The Grip Of The City Madness
Takes the cinematic soundscapes laid by Deltron 3030 and makes them fully realized. While I loved Del's rapping in the first release, Tron 3030 works completely differently, and as such it doesn't linger in the shadow of it's lyrical sibling. Instead, it works like a movie soundtrack to something sweepingly beautiful. To be honest, I created an account just to give...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but...
Hip-hop would get a lot more respect in general if the music that drives the songs was afforded the same degree of respect as the lyrics of the rappers in hip-hop. On addressing the artier side of hip-hop by releasing instrumental versions of key albums he's worked on, Dan the Automator is to be highly commended. However, all of his instrumental releases will be...

The perfect instrumental remix of my favorite hip-hop album of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The album is Awesome and Great For DJing, August 26, 2005
By
This review is from: Deltron 3030 Instrumental Version (Audio CD)
When I first Bought the Instrumentals version, it was the best because I could use it for soo many things like DJing with friends, using it for Parties, and listening to it on my Ipod. The reason why I rate this 5 stars is because I believe that the person who Djs and needs instrumentals for a mix can use this when they're mixing or making a cd with their friend who could be an MC. I suggest that who ever reads this should buy the CD and enjoy the Instrumantal Journey of Deltron 3030, "The Instrumentals."

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Hip Hop Albums Ever, December 18, 2007

This is hands down one of the best hip hop albums of all time, and one of the best concept albums ever. I bought this album years ago and I listen to it all of the time still. You can always discover new things Del is saying. He has ridiculous flow and I am sorry to say is infinitely better than the crap on the radio and on MTV. In the year 3030 everyone wants to be an MC! If you love music, get this album. Now put out The Eleventh Hour already!

This deltron 3030: the instrumentals album is a great find. It combines a traditional hip hop sound with a blend of other styles thrown in here and there as well, such as a bit of 70's from some of the guitars in the background and gentle flute type instruments here and there. It also ranges from urban beats to melodic and beautiful ambient sounds. Overall the "feel" is cool, relaxing and grooving.

For anyone interested, for a hip hop style album of this era the sound quality is very good. Being hip-hop it uses sampling and instruments common to that style of music, but this album is very well crafted. Samples and instruments may sound "low-fi" or crunchy at parts, but it is obvious that these decisions were part of the composition and not due to bad quality production. In fact, I would say this album has a very high level of production quality. There is no post-album noise reduction, and there doesn't seem to be any post dynamic compression either. Drums are clear and snappy. Bass lines a sub sonic and boomy when necessary while still allowing the other instruments to come through clear and distinct. The album has a very good overall EQ with no harsh high frequencies or out of this world bass booms normal with newer compressed mastering.

For those who might not know the album, the standard vocal edition is also very good. I prefer this version only because it allows you to really hear the nuances of the music alone and the great musicianship. I give it a five star rating for this type of album.

This album is out of print as of 2012, but I believe it is well worth buying used. Keep a watch for one selling at a lower price and snatch it up if you can.

These beats will be repeated several times in your Cd player or your ride, make sure you cop the vocal Deltron 3030, Del is the tightest rapper on the planet and Automator one of the tightest producers.

This album is great, deeps melotic samples, and dirty heavy beats. This album rivals the best triphop out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best, October 29, 2001
This review is from: Deltron 3030 Instrumental Version (Audio CD)
This CD is the one of the best CD's I have ever heard. If you like the Gorillaz even somewhat you will love this. This CD has some of the best beats in the songs which keep you coming back for more. This group is very underrated for the quality of there songs, seriously have you heard of them(duh, you wouldn't be reading this review). But I like all types of music, from country to rap to classic rock. This has a blend of a little bit of techno, hip-hop, rock, and everything else. I suggest you buy this now.

...superior instrumental...that's all I can say...If you love everything else he's done (Handsome Boy, Octagon, Bombay, Better Tomorrow, etc.) you'll love this...it makes me forgive Dan for ruining half the Gorillaz LP with Damon Alburn's voice...get it before all your friends have heard it and bastardize it....be the first on your block to make the the trek to 3030...

4 all those who thought that del's early 90's style of whinning the lyrics had made the original 3030 album a little less than perfect. just amazing tunes accompanied by crazy skratchez from the best turntablist in the business.

Make sure that u'v got a good set of speakers 1st though (a sub would b a good idea), as missing the bass-line would b missing 1/2 the beauty of this spectacular album.
