I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Delusions by Christina Smith is the companion novel to Fated Dreams. In Fated Dreams, we met lovebirds Lucas and Sarah, who make appearances in this novel. But this book is written in the perspective of Lisa, a girl who has been scorned by gorgeous Logan, the "bad boy" twin of Lucas. I was thrilled to see his reintroduction because I felt that we got hints of his three dimensionality from the first book. Lisa has been dreaming of Logan for ages-- he's her secret crush. One fateful night at a party changes all that when he actually kisses her. Something awful happens, and she decides to wage war on him. But Logan and the rest of the gang from Fated Dreams insist that he has changed-- has he? Will Lisa fall back in love with him or will she just get hurt?

I admit I enjoyed this book a lot more than Fated Dreams because I really liked the characters so much. Logan is probably one of my favorite characters that Christina Smith has created because of how full of depth he is-- he portrays himself as the bad boy, but he is so much more than that. Lisa is also an interesting and complex character and somehow Smith makes her likeable-- which is no easy feat seeing as she has some dark secrets of her own. The pace is lightning fast, and I raced to the end of the book to find out what happens. While the conclusion was not all that expected, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

That said, I do have just some overall questions about this world that Christina Smith brings up. Because of that, I'm still confused about how things work. Not that the characters would know the answers, but I think a little more world building would have been helpful at least to me as a reader.

That said, this is a highly entertaining read, and one that people should check out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Delusions January 22, 2013
Wow, I have tears in my eyes and am giggling like a school girl who just spoke to her first crush all at the same time. This novel was great. It was about real people, with real lives, dealing with real issues, and then some. Smith takes the well known concept of soul mates and tweaks it to bring it forward in a new light that doesn't seem quite as farfetched as many concepts that I have seen. It fits perfectly with the lives of real people, and doesn't require much of a supernatural element whatsoever.

I must say, Smith's character development in this installment of the series far exceeds that of the original. Every major character in this novel has a back-story. You know who they are and why they are that way. You also learn a great deal more about some of the characters from the original story as well. The characters also display emotions appropriate to their circumstances. They stick to their decisions when appropriate and compromise (eventually) when it's called for. The characters in this novel are also quite likeable. They all have their quirks but you never want to throw a pillow at any of them to shut them up. It's brilliant.

Smith's writing remains as real as ever in this installment. It is the realism in her writing that draws you so far into the work. She describes things as they are in the real world. There are no illusions or metaphors. Her pages are not full of symbolism. It is completely real, and yet you can still picture it as if you were there.

This book held me captive throughout. I thoroughly enjoy Smith's work. Even within this series you can already see the evolution of her writing style. She is definitely an author to follow

While some parts felt like a repeat from the first book, I still enjoyed it. The twins are interesting, while the main character does take a bit to really enjoy. She's flawed, and that is something I really did enjoy. In truth, teenagers make mistake about life and people, I think this does a good job at displaying those type of mistakes with a small supernatural twist to it.

*I was given this e-book for an honest review."

When I first looked at this book, I had no idea what book 2 would have in store. I loved the fact that not only do we learn more about some characters from the previous book but we also get the main characters back from the original. I really adore this series and if a third book was to make an appearance in the future, I would definitely purchase it!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Delusions September 13, 2013

This book is the second book in the affinity series after fated dreams. So after reading the first book and liked the different pace from the other books that I have read lately I went straight into reading the second. And I must say I loved it more than the first well thats my opinion anyway. It was another brilliantly written book where it had me hanging on and guessing who it was. This book like the first had me giggling, and laughing all throughout the book. This book was about a high school senior Lisa Miller; who struggles to come to terms about the dreams she is having and her mixed emotions about Logan Tate. It all started out with Lisa getting her heartbroken by Logan 2 years ago one night at a party and from there planned her revenge on Logan, to make him feel just the way she felt. She has an internal struggle with her feelings as Logan tries to prove to her that he wasn't the same guy as he was a year ago but she doesn't believe him. But as she spends more time with him and gets to know him better she can see that he isn't the same guy and she starts to fall for him. She starts getting creepy emails and phone calls from someone and gets quiet scared and in hind sight thinks its Logan up to his old tricks. In the end truths are revealed from both parties and relationships are put to the test. Overall it is really enjoyable read and enjoyed the addition of characters but also having some of the same characters from the first books. I was happy that we get to see the story of Logan and his soul mate. I think both of these books can be read as stand alone but she has done a brilliant job in relating some themes from the first book quiet well into this book. well done :D
