Although this kit is a good overall value, the battery supplied is a "dumb" battery. It WILL work but since it doesn't have data capabilities your camcorder won't recognize it's type and will not tell you how much recording time you have.

Believe it or not, the kit is so overwhelmingly generous... it is still a good value. You could never get so many accessories for this price if purchased separately.

Have been using this since purchased over a year ago. My Canon Vixia HD camcorder fits in the case. I do have to lay the charger on top of the camera. It is a somewhat tight fit but it will zip shut. I used the 4GB card in one of my hunting trail cameras. I purchased a 16 GB for taking pictures with my camcorder. Note, the battery will work with my camcorder, but it will not show the amount of charge because it is a generic battery and not a "smart" battery by Canon. I use it strictly as a backup when my main battery goes out. I use the card reader and it is great for plugging into a computer USB port. It weighs practically nothing and just put in your card and plug it in. The first time it is used, your Windows operating system will go through a few seconds of "installing device". Let it complete before you use it and after that, just plug it in and go. The tripod is ok for smaller lightweight cameras or camcorders, I wouldn't want to use it too much with my old Pentax SF-1 film camera with a long lense. Overall, good value for the money.
