The photo shows a drain and feed hose but the feed was actually a female hose connector soldered directly on the end of the copper pipe. That means I had to buy an additional short hose to get it to the kitchen faucet. Because the only one I could find at the right length was a clothes washer/dishwasher hose with two female connectors, I also needed an adapter. This added about $15 to the cost. Other than that, it's the perfect size for the 4-gallon pot I use for the wort boil. It should also work just fine for a 7.5 gallon pot by stretching out the coil more. If you do your boil outside and use the garden hose, it will hook right in with no additional parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chillers with soldered connections make for a safer connection, March 29, 2010

I have one of these, and the previous reviewer is right, it consists of a male and female soldered hose part... it shouldn't have been hard for him to find short hoses though. It's a great product, I don't have to worry about the plastic hose loosening up and coming off, spilling water all over and ruining my entire batch. I simply went to Lowe's and bought two 6 foot hoses (I think they're for campers) and voila, perfect. All you need is a hose adapter for your sink (just ask at a hardware store) and it's very easy to hook this thing up to your sink. Just be sure to test it before you put it in your wort, you def don't want it to contaminate your cooling wort. I have to reseat it a couple times to get a good seal but it's very easy to do.

I tend to cover the "in" connection with paper towels because the hot wort steam condenses on the cold copper and drops back into the wort. I'm sure the steam is hot enough to sanitize it but it worries me nonetheless. This will happen with any immersion wort chiller.

Love this Wort Chiller! Cools down my Wort in 20 min. Good connections, no drip into the wort that could add bacteria to the wort. Highly recommend.
