3.0 out of 5 stars Great costume except for the mask
The costume quality is great with its molded chest and belt. The only problem I have is with the mask. My son has so much difficulty in seeing out of the mask (even in daytime, and this is his halloween costume so will be trick'or'treating in the dark) that he's unable to wear it. Which is probably a good thing because the 2nd bad thing about the mask is that the bottom...

My son has so much difficulty in seeing out of the mask (even in daytime, and this is his halloween costume so will be trick'or'treating in the dark) that he's unable to wear it. Which is probably a good thing because the 2nd bad thing about the mask is that the bottom of it, as it's solid plastic, forms a fairly sharp edge which is pretty dangerous for a 5 year old.

If I had to do it again, I'd go for the cheaper costume with a different mask.

2.0 out of 5 stars Deluxe Kids Darth Vader Costume--Child Small, October 23, 2010

I bought this costume before I realized Walmart sold the same one. First of all, Rubies is the same manufacturer of costumes for both Walmart and Amazon. How do I know? I bought both costumes. The difference? Of course, the price...Walmart's version was more than one-half the price. Walmart had 2 prices depending on the bells and whistles, $19 and $12. The more expensive one, was $19 which was an awesome price!!! I purchased this one. The material was much more durable than the one sold by Amazon. The $19 Walmart costume didn't have the extra fabric sewn along the waist and boot covers which is truly part of the details on the original Darth Vader costume, and the mask was better because the vision through the eyes was significantly clearer. My son realized the difference in the bell and whistles and chose to keep the $42 Amazon version. This costume is made of very thin material and the ends will fray, because the ends are not sewn. The vision out of the lenses (in the mask) are extremely blurry and distorted. I guarantee no child will wear it, because he will be unable to see. My son didn't wear it for ten seconds. I previously owned another Darth Vader mask to replace it. Overall, I am not impressed with this costume. For the price, it is not worth it..

I bought this costume for my 4 year old son. First of all, I am glad I didn't pay $60+ for it because it is not good quality and looks like something you can get for $10 or less at Wal-Mart. The package states size 4-6(small) and then says for ages 3-4. I think that age 5 to 6 is more correct. My son is 41" tall and the outfit is at least 2 inches too long. The velcro patch that secures the cape has already fallen off after one day. It also comes with a voice box that has an unreplaceable battery. I would prefer that I could replace the battery since my son enjoys it so much. Despite my all complaints about it, all that matters is that my son loves it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much nicer than "standard" Vader costume, August 8, 2009

Overall, this is a really terrific costume that will stand up to some wear and tear. My 4-year-old is much taller than most kids his age, and we were very frustrated to find that the standard Clone Trooper costume we bought at the store just barely fit him, despite being labeled as fitting kids 5-7 years old. This Darth Vader costume was a good find for us, as it's roomy and will last him for at least a year or two.

The good: The costume itself is pretty well-constructed, and much more detailed than the standard Vader costume you find at a certain huge chain toy store. My son was really wowed by it, and wanted to wear it constantly despite the fact that it was the middle of summer! It's a lot of fun for imaginative play. The silver parts of the suit are actually constructed of a flexible plastic-type substance that gives it a much more realistic, 3-D look than the usual printed costume. The cape is detachable.

The bad: Even though the costume shows gloves and a light saber, you'll need to purchase these items separately. (The gauntlet gloves are really nice, and in my opinion, really finish the costume.) The costume belt is WAY too big, and not very adjustable. To get it to fit our son, we have to tie it in the back rather than using the velcro fastener. This makes visiting the bathroom less than fun!

I'd buy this costume again, but would be happier if they'd include gloves and make the belt more easily adjustable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice for price, December 2, 2007
The costume was nicely made and didnt tear like most costumes do on the first day. The mask was the only slight disappointment as it seemed a bit small for the costume but otherwise it was cute.

4.0 out of 5 stars An above-average Darth Vadar costume, November 8, 2010

This is a nice 4-piece Darth Vadar costume. It includes the jumpsuit, a black cape, utility belt and mask. We purchased a medium (size 8-10). My son is a boys' size 7 and is tall for his age, however the legs were a bit long for him -- but not a big problem.

The costume includes molded soft foam body pieces at the shoulders, chest, pelvis and shins. The utility belt runs a bit large, but we were able to tie it in the back and it was hidden by the cape. The cape velcros to the neck of the jump suit and is made of a thin black material. The mask was the best part of the costume and was padded with foam around the eyes for comfort. It covers the front part of the face only and has a velcro strap to secure around the back of the head. Peripheral vision was limited, but my son never complained.

As far as quality, it was one of the nicer Darth Vadar costumes we've seen, but is made of the thin material that so many Halloween costumes are constructed with. It probably won't survive heavy-duty playing, but it was perfect for Halloween for us.

Gloves are not included and we purchased them separately at our local costume store. The light saber came from a popular large toy store.

1.0 out of 5 stars Deluxe is NOT deluxe, October 29, 2010
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

When I ordered this It is very misleading on the size and the accessories. When I ordered deluxe verses the regular one I was expecting the light sabor and the gloves..they did not come with it. Also my son is a size 6 slim and it said to order the medium..it is very very large. I doubt he will be unable to wear the mask because it falls off with the small velcro extra long strip that keeps coming off..perhaps if I tie it in a knot. Anyway..save your money and just go to the halloween store. Not worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Smiling 5-1/2 year old, October 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My 5-1/2 year old foster son wanted to be Darth Vader this year for Halloween. Although I ordered and kept it hidden, he kept asking if it arrived. Finally on Saturday (10/10) I gave him the costume and the gloves (Purchased separately). I am hiding the light saber (purchased separately) until the big day. He is thrilled and so was I.

Much better quality then I expected. The detail of the costume/belt and the mask are outrageous, well made, and fit him perfectly. (He is a thin and I bought the 4-6 year old costume.)

This is his first "real" costume so now I suppose he is spoiled, but that's my job afterall. Thank you for making this a very special Halloween for him!

Darth Vader Child Standard Costume (Child Small 4-6)

I never know when I order costumes if they will fit my boy. This one fits just right. He loves it. It is still a month til Halloween but he puts it on and parades around for a bit. It is just a basic jumpsuit with a cape, cloth belt, and plastic mask. The bottom of the pants flares out and has elastic to fit over shoes. The light sabre is sold separately. It seems durable enough to last til Halloween at least. Make sure you order the saber as well, what kid could be Darth without it?
