There are plenty of items I would need to add if I didn't already own them (for example headlamps, katahdin water filter, solar charger, chemical hand/body warmers, more light sticks, at least 100' of parachute cord, much more first/aid medical supplies, high protein bars, heavy duty knife, wenger multi-tool, .40 glock, etc.) but this kit is a good value for the price. I would have given 5 stars if it included a more substantial medical kit- the one included definitely does not meet my minimum recommendation.

The items are all of good quality, including the gas turnoff and pry bar tools, the chemical toilet items, etc. which can be very important in urban situations.

When I opened the container and layed out all the items for examination, I did notice a bit of odor from the chemical bag for the toilet waste treatment. I hope it won't effect the edibles.

As another reviewer mentioned, the aqua pure water treatment tablets are a high quality addition.

All in all, well worth the money although at minimum you should definitely supplement the medical supplies. And keep in mind the packaged food and water has an official shelf life of 5 years only.

The shipping does hurt($22 in my case).

I finished the local CERT training and wanted to get a kit to jumpstart my supplies. This is an excellent, excellent kit. The bucket comes filled up with supplies, a great wind-up radio, and a gas shut-off tool. All essentials. Purchasing this puts you on a good path to being solidly prepared. Get a book or a leaflet on supplies so you know what else you will need, but this kit will check off many items on that list for you in one purchase.

I love this kit~ Had a good mix of what you'd need to stay alive in an emergency and I loved the fact that the container turns into a chemical toilet. I appreciate the fact that it also contains items that many prepackaged kits leave out- like duct tape, radio, pry bar and water purification tablets. I was also amazed by how quickly the item shipped and arrived. At first I was hesitant to order since it wasn't on Prime, however my order shipped within an hour of being placed and arrived safe and sound in just a few days.

Please do NOT buy this product! It is cheap and pathetic to say the least. It is NOT worth the money!
The products inside looked like someone had taken the bucket and just tossed things in. When I opened the package there was a sickly sweat fake cherry smell. When I opened the bucket the first thing I noticed was the cheap hospital mask on top. You can get these mask, for free, at your local hospital-they are usually by the door. The mask were not sealed or sterile; they were just laying on top of everything. Underneath were the wet wipes, four of them, that were tossed haphazardly on top of everything else. The box the matches were in had been previously wet. The fake cherry smell was the toilet chemical. Apparently someone had taken a punctured package, put it in a zip lock bag and tossed it in the bucket...causing the chemical to go everywhere. The emergency ponchos are extremely cheap and rip easily. I kid you not, trash bags are a lot thicker than these things. The compass is a cheap toy and doesn't work. The "signal" mirror is on the inside, under the compass and is smaller than a quarter. The gloves are Dollar Tree gloves, literally, and they had a hole in them. I put a 72 hour kit together for my family and got this to put in the truck for when we travel. I am beyond disappointed with this product-I'm actually disgusted with it. Had the product cost $30 I wouldn't of said anything. However, with shipping it came to $100. Please don't waste your money, it really is not worth it. The only good things in this bucket are the food bars, water and utility tools. You can put a much better kit together for under $50 with more reliable products. If a disaster, tornado or chemical spill, forces you to leave your home this product will not be of much use.

This bucket emergency kit is ok. I was somewhat disappointed. I feel like the quality of the products they throw in to the bucket are the cheapest they can find. The water and food are probably what cost the most in the kit. The lid/potty seat is doesn't fit that great and takes some time to get it to snap down properly and even then it feels like it may pop off. The crowbar had sliced into it during shipping causing a sharp piece to hang off on the inside. The thing that was the worst was the odor... it was a chemical smell which I thought was coming from the toilet additive (which someone complained about in another review) but it was actually coming from the cheap canvas and leather work gloves that were in there. I don't know what they are treated with but I wouldn't want to have them on my hands! I took them out of the kit fearing that they would stink up everything else and ruin it.
In all honesty, I would not buy this again. Especially if you are paying the $22 bucks in shipping like I did. It would be better worth your while to buy the seat/lid, food, water items online and go to Walmart for the rest for better quality items.
