4.0 out of 5 stars Better than it looks
Berlitz have on their web site audiscripts with complete dialogs for
this product (as well as for their other products).
They also have there "Learning guide" with Spanish grammar.
All this makes this product much better than it looks right
from the box.

1.0 out of 5 stars There are better products that you can buy
This course is terrible. If you can learn a language from a Spanish/English dictionary, then the Deluxe Language Pack may be made for you. Everybody else should go somewhere else.

This course is terrible. If you can learn a language from a Spanish/English dictionary, then the Deluxe Language Pack may be made for you. Everybody else should go somewhere else.

How the course is meant to work- At the beginning of each section you are given a list of words with their English counterparts. You then listen to a CD that has a conversation between two spanish speakers. Following that, you are quizzed in english about what you've just heard. The majority of the Spanish you heard doesn't match the list of words that you were given at the beginning of the section. The workbook portions are equally incomprehensible. For example, you given the word Nombre, but the answer you are supposed to give is llama. A word that they haven't introduced to you. Another example, they tell you the numbers one through fifteen, then you are asked to say the word for twenty-five.

They do include a nice spanish/english dictionary. I guess they expect you to be constantly looking in it since that's the only way you are going to be able to answer the questions in the workbook or on CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars A conversational review but lacking, June 30, 2007
This review is from: Deluxe Language Pack Spanish (Berlitz Deluxe Language Pack) (Spanish Edition) (Audio CD)
I would not recommend this to anyone who has no Spanish background. It has been a couple of years since I took a Spanish class. This just helped me review the basics.

The beginning book and CDs started with the basics of introducing people, ordering food, getting a taxi shopping. The intermediate section dissappointed me. I expected more conversation and grammar. It somewhat builded up on the basic. It was about carrying slightly deeper conversations such as making plans, exchanging opinions about a movie, describing where you live.

This just served well to me as a good review for Spanish conversation. The only postive is that the CD uses genuine Spanish speakers with different accents from South American, Spanish and Mexican. I think the point was to get you used to listening to different Spanish accents. I was able to practice that. This pack had a good beginners dictionary and review flash cards.

Get this only if you want to focus on conversational Spanish, or had some Spanish background but want a review. I feel this is more designed for a traveller rather than serious student. If you are visiting or staying in a Spanish speaking country for a longer period of time... This will help you with the conversational basics just to survive there. But, if you are looking for a basic foundation in Spanish language and grammar, forget it because you will be very dissappointed.

I decided to buy a textbook of spanish grammar as a supplement to this. For me, I need a basic framework before the conversational.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone!, August 20, 2007
This review is from: Deluxe Language Pack Spanish (Berlitz Deluxe Language Pack) (Spanish Edition) (Audio CD)
I have never taken a Spanish course before and this deffintily didn't help me at all. There is dialoge on the CD's that isn't writen in the book so it is next to impossible for someone with no experiece in spanish to follow along. I would not reccomend this package.
