Although GPS is nice too, it just doesn't always give you the right course. This Rand McNally Motor Carriers' Road Atlas gives truck routes that you can use and stay out of trouble. Whereas the GPS tends to give the shortest route that may end up in a pretty hefty ticket and a dinged CSA score.
Example: Atlanta, GA
Law: If you don't have a load going directly into Atlanta, GA, you have to... No... you need to use the By-pass/Loop or the DRIVER could end up with a ticket of up to $5000.00. Most of the time a GPS will send you straight through, this Road Atlas gives you the correct path. So heed caution when just relying on GPS alone. Plus, I don't know of any trucker out there that wants to give $5000.00 of long traveled miles away. That one ticket could be a career ender.
I picked up my copy up at the Flying J in Limon, CO for only $29.95, but the thing I don't like about this road atlas is that it has a metal spiral instead of a plastic one. The metal spirals tend to get bent up fairly quickly, especially from daily use. Otherwise, this road atlas gives me everything to plan my destination.
The point is... this is one tool every trucker should have in the cab. Highly recommended.

Designed with a Professional Driver in mind, indeed I did get this when I was driving, but keep it in my personal vehicle now. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Ernest L. Johnson III
Very helpful for information that is not readily available and reliable elsewhere even with all the technology, such at low bridge warnings.Published 11 months ago by Shirley Boland
You can get it for half price at a truckstop. Great quality! Laminated pages are nice. Stronger binding wouldn't hurt.Published 12 months ago by Joshua Mayer
