Purchased this tumbling mat for my kids. The Alex mat didn't hold up for their play.
This mat is sturdy, though a little harder then the old one. It is a good quality mat that so far holds it own in hands of many kids.
I am pleased with this purchase.

Great gift for my 4 year old on her birthday. Softer than I thought it would be - will be used at all slumber parties!

When your child requests a gymnastics mat for Christmas you are elated that you no longer have to worry about her smashing her head through your living room floor but also a little perplexed about what to buy. This mat is very thick and easily stored. It is not heavy so she can, with a little effort, move it around the playroom by herself. There is velcro on one end for storage purposes, I believe, but I wish there were velcro on both ends so I could be sure it would not move around on top of the floor. That is the only drawback. Easily cleaned and well-made.

I ordered this mat on May 30th, 2010. They charged my credit card on 6/02/10. It is now July 5th, 2010. I think I am going to receive it tomorrow. My original order said the outside delivery date was June 22nd. So on the 23rd I wrote them, no answer. I wrote them on the 25th, which was a Friday, probably not the best day to write so my fault there. They wrote me back & said that they would write me on Monday. Which they did. They said that they were behind because they were making mats for Haiti & then they gave me the UPS tracking number. I have never quite had an experience like this on Amazon & maybe I am spoiled by my 2-day shipping I receive on most items I order. Anyway, I went back & forth on actually writing a review when I received the email from Amazon prompting me. Is it mean-spirited? They are busy making mats for Haiti, for God's Sakes. But I figure it is a story that will be helpful to others in making their purchasing decisions. When I actually receive my mat I will update my review & write how the actual mat holds up.

I purchased this mat for my four year old grandson for his birthday and did not see it until I recently visited them since they live in another state. It was in the middle of the floor in their living room near the TV set. My grandson naps on it with his little sister, they tumble all over each other and he jumps from the sofa onto the mat and then tumbles over and over. I was so happy to see that this is a sturdy product and is able to withstand the constant usage from this active little boy.

My niece (who is 5) had a smaller and thinner mat when she was little which got all worn out so my sister asked me to get her a new mat. After much research, I got her this Deluxe rainbow mat and had it shipped directly to their house in another state. I was a little nervous if it would be a good product since I was ordering online but my niece loved it! She has been using it for almost a year and it's holding up quite well!!! She uses it for playing, gymnastics, reading, jumping around, all sorts of stuff. Very good product in a very durable material and very good size!!!

My daughter got this mat for Christmas and she just loves it. She is in constant movement, so she uses this mat in lots of bizarre and interesting ways. Sure, there are summer salts (sp?) and "hand stands" (which her 4-year old body cannot quite manage), but there is also jumping and falling and running and hopping. Even a little wrestling. She and her big brother make up all sorts of races where they skip over certain colors, etc. She won't let me put it away, so the folding convenience is almost moot. Its just right for casual use, and has encouraged physical play in my older son, while its provided a "safer" place for the unbridled physicality of my little girl.

We love this item. We bought this to go with an incline for our girls to practice gymnastics on. Seems to be very durable. Stiching seems very strong. We are going to be purchasing a second one so there is no fight over whos turn it is. I like the fact this also folds up so it can be put in a closet or tucked behind the couch. It was a good value for the money.
