Love It!!, November 23, 2004
This review is from: Deluxe Snuggle Nest - Blue Patchwork (Baby Product)
I got this snuggle nest just before our son was born thinking it might come in handy. Well, it is fabulous! It keeps him "protected" within solid walls while still allowing him to be close enough to sense and smell us. It also keeps life easy for me when he wakes in the middle of the night to nurse or get a diaper change. I don't have to wait for him to cry loud enough to wake me from another room. I hear him fuss and 'bam', I'm awake. Also, the DVD that came with the item is FANTASTIC! The Happiest Baby on the Block, ROCKS! Definately a must see for any new parent whether having your first or 10th (alright well maybe not 10th as by then you are some kind of child rearing god & goddess). It is amazing to see the techniques described actually work when applied to my own baby.
I will say if you have a small bed (ie., anything smaller than queen or extended queen) you will probably be cramped pretty bad with the snuggle nest placed in the middle.

Gives you a little peace of mind!, April 15, 2005
This review is from: Deluxe Snuggle Nest - Blue Patchwork (Baby Product)
We were only able to use this snuggle nest for a little while because my son seemed to outgrow it fast! But when we did use it, it served it's purpose...giving us peace of mind when our son was in between us. We have a queen size bed & it was a bit tight having it in between us...but since the sides of it are so strong, I did not have to worry about rolling over onto my baby, so I did not care.
If the sheet got dirty, I put a pillow case over the pad instead, while it was in the wash, & it fit perfectly.
I was a little disappointed that the attachable nightlight was broken when we opened the package but we did not really need it anyway.
Overall, I think it's a good product that served it purpose. I plan on saving it & using it for our next baby.

Wonderful item that keeps on giving!, January 14, 2006
This review is from: Deluxe Snuggle Nest - Blue Patchwork (Baby Product)
After waiting a lifetime to become a Mom, I just wasn't ready to put my baby in the Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper attached to our bed (let alone a crib in the next room) after he was born. Lucky for me, his father feels the same way. Thus, we argued about who "got" to have the baby on their side of the bed. We wanted him between us so that we could both comfort and love him through the night.
At first, I just put him between our heads in the center of the bed. However, I have read all the precautions about putting a baby in bed with you. A couple of times I jarred awake panicky that a blanket or sheet could be covering his face.
I had seen this snugglenest many times and thought it was pretty expensive. After all, I had a $169.99 co-sleeper attached to my side of the bed! What did I need a $50 snugglenest for?
I bought it three days into our baby-in-the-middle-of-us sleeping experience.
My spouse rolled his eyes when he saw me set it up the first night. I got a lecture about buying every contraption I read about online. He thought it was "stupid." He sneered at the cutesy name.
Now he won't go to bed without it.
The snugglenest provides a much safer sleep experience for moms and dads who want the baby between them. It has hard sides covered by a cushy quilted cover that is completely washable. It has a firm mattress that is much more appropriate for babies than an adult mattress. There is a sleep positioner included which we don't use. It has a wonderful little light that attaches to the top (which we use ALL the time). It packs up easily and is completely portable. Best of all, your baby can be right in the center of the bed yet contained in his or her own space.
Our son loves his snugglenest. He knows immediately that it's sleepy time when we lay him down in it. He will reach out to feel for us in the night and self-comfort back to sleep. Best of all, it makes transitions to other locations very easy. I have laid the nest in our co-sleeper, crib and taken it to family's house: it's like he has his bed and smells with him wherever we go. It has made changing his location much more simple.
I know there may be some reviews on here that are up-in-arms against the snugglenest because they believe the only safe place for a baby is in a crib. This argument is more anti-cosleeping than anti the snugglenest, however. Sleep location is a very personal issue. Co-sleeping can be very safe if both parents actively take responsibility for it. Last year more babies died in cribs than in any other sleep location.
The only downside of the snugglenest is that it does take up a lot of room. We have a queen sized bed and it's pretty tight. A king-sized bed would be better. I can't see having this with a full-sized bed or smaller.
Overall, we love the snugglenest!
