After shelling out big bucks for a new engine, I wanted to keep it as new as possible. (I'm actually shocked Yamaha doesn't send this item with every new engine). It's padded and fits very snuggly on the cowling. I'm able to trailer the boat with the cover intact and it's completely durable. Most importantly, it keeps unwanted rain water and fowl weather off my engine. If you can afford this, I think it's a great product for any boat owner that cares how their boat looks. And Amazon has the best price I could find anywhere... hope this helps.
