Easy to light and toasty warm,

This review is from: Deluxe electric ignite metal pocket hand warmer - reuseable, no mess and uses regular lighter fluid (Misc.)
The past hand warmer that I had of this type was impossible to light. I saw this electric one and was intrigued. I thought it would be just a gimmick as it is the only battery lighting one that I have ever seen. I sell cars and I am out in the cold a lot. I figured this was worth a shot. I have been very impressed. As the directions tell you, hold down the starter button for 5 seconds and it is lit. It needs no lighter and it is so easy. I love it. The lighter fluid is inexpensive and you can get more sessions on it than if it ran on batteries alone.Pros: No lighter needed Easy to light Can be started and stopped multiple times in a day easily Very warm and toasty Lasts a long time Has a funnel to assist in measuring and pouring fuel Cons: Holes in case leave hot spots that may burn skin You can smell the lighter fluid burning Hasn't remained lit for 24 hours on a fill Lighter fluid evaporates after 30 hours even when not in use Filling can be tedious. If you go too fast it will overflow and spill lighter fluid.

This is a great hand warmer that is very economical. It is far better than the Zippo or John-E. However, in my experience, it takes it a little longer to warm up then the Zippo style, but when it does warm up it stays much warmer and for a much longer period of time. I just ordered another one. I would have ordered two the first time, but I wasn't sure of the quality of workmanship and materials, which appear to be pretty good.

I've had many of the old style catalytic handwarmers, only to have them fall apart after a few weeks of hard use.Having a unit with an electric ignition feature was a really good idea - fewer delicate parts to fall out. I'd suggest a few more changes to make it more rugged: make the battery door more secure - it comes off too easily. might as well make the unit into a single piece unit and have it fill from the bottom. These pocket heaters are going to get dropped alot. Might as well make them bullet proof, if you can. This is a great unit, but they can make it even better!

This item is an excellent choice in hand-warmers. It's superior feature is the ability to start it up independently of an external source of ignition. It does take quite a while to heat up but afterwards it delivers warmth for a very long time. There are some negatives. Filling it with lighter fluid is done similarly to other products but is a delicate operation. The fill bowl sits on top of the unit but not securely and could be spilled. Like others, there is no knowing when it will run out. The clip to secure the batteries in the unit comes off too easily and could be lost making the unit unusable. Finally, even though you can turn it off, according to the instructions, the fuel continues to evaporate and will be gone in 30 hours even when not operating. It's probably best to guess your need for fuel based on the 24hr life when completely filled. Given the above, I also bought a small Zippo fuel canister which can be used to add fuel as needed (after you have shut it off and it has cooled down somewhat). The canister only holds enough to fill a cigarette lighter, but that will probably get you through a day.

The electric ignite feature is great! I've had the jon-e style and it was always a pain to have something available to light them. They typically did not work for me anyway and smelled awful when they did. This one has worked every time so far and doesn't smell anywhere near as bad. Mine did not come with the black stuff sack as pictured - bummer. Instead it has some fake leather looking thing with large holes cut out to match the vents in the metal case and no way to cinch the top closed. Stuffed in a pocket it's ok but when you want to use it to warm your hands, the metal nearly burns you through the holes. Luckily I kept the sack from my last jon-e and it fits this one pretty well. The little cover over the batteries does come loose easily, be careful not to lose it.

Ok, have been looking for a product like this for a long time. Saw 4 and 5 star reviews on this product - saw 1,2 3, 4,5 for other cheaper products. Wow, this really works and is very hot - you have to use the outer sleeve or it may burn you. But keep it in you pocket it will keep it nice and toasty. Pricy, but worth it. Buy quality I guess you have to pay for it. Bought cheap things in the past and it ends up costing more in the long run..... Now the specifics - small oder, but not designed to be your heat source inside. But your going to get this with any product of this type. - Pro - easy to fill, just two parts, flip it around and you can turn it off or on- can save the fluid (hard to find) to use later in the same device - just keep the item upright. - item comes with a piece of pink plastic to fill it up (measure), but really not needed. - cons : none really - amazing for cold hands!

I purchased hand warmers for a friend who works outdoors. When I was a young lad living in Pennsylvania, having a hand warmer in my pocket was especially nice on cold, wintry days. The hand warmers I purchased recently (as gifts) are much nicer. These have controls. It's worth paying a little more for these modern hand warmers ... conserve fuel, easier to ignite and de-ignite.

best handwarmer ever,

This is the only handwarmer that I've found, that doesn't go out when placed in your pocket. The jonee handwarmers I could never get to stay lit, so recently I bought and tried the zippo handwarmer, not bad but never really got hot, so I decided to try this handwarmer. I was brought up believing that you get what you pay for, and although this handwarmer does cost quit a bit more than say the zippo, it does a very nice job of getting hot and staying lit (and hot)when placed in your coat pocket. In fact you have to be careful with the hot spots in the holder it comes in, becaus the metal handwarmer itself gets so hot you can't hold onto it without the case. But I'm not complaining because thats why I bought the handwarmer to get hot.I would not hesitate to buy another on of these, In fact I bought 2 of them when I placed my order one for me and 1 for my Dad, and he loves his too. The electonic ignition is nice and the idea that you can turn it off and back on again is a nice touch also.

I've tried most of the hand warmers that you can buy, and this one is the best one out there. It starts easily, stays going and is warmer than any one I've used. Great to give as a gift! Worth the price!

great product. Love the battery start method as opposed to other warmers that use a flame to start. Also like having the reversable top to cover the lighter fluid reservoir. Works for up to 5 hours on full load.
