In this witty and easy to read book, Derrick Boelter emphasizes that actors who have effective demo reels get the work, while those who don't...get less.

WOW! This book is the manual that is going to save thousands of hours and dollars for the actor who is determined to get noticed! Derrick knows every single trick in the book - and lays it out in a way that even the most technologically challenged can relate to. Although he is brilliant with computers and camera equipment, he is patient, kind and thorough in a way that takes you by the hand in a step by step system, to make even the most inexperienced actor create the most professional looking reel that will convince even the most seasoned producers that you are the one to hire, because you know and understand your craft. Thanks for blowing the lid off this industry, Derrick. This book is going to be the bible for every young aspiring movie star!

I read this book cover to cover, I couldn't put it down! I didn't even know there was so much information out there -- before I read Demo Reel Secrets for Actors, I literally didn't even know what I didn't know about this topic. I can't imagine there is anyone in the industry who knows what Derrick Boelter knows or can do what he does, and after reading this book, any aspiring actor will know how to tell the good editors from the phonies!

Cutting a demo reel is a specialized craft that Mr. Boelter's book really hones in on. Even I learned things and I've been editing in film and television for nearly 14 years! Aspiring actors and editors alike should read this book.

In the digital age of today, the actor is cast or passed based on his reel, and if you don't have one, you're not even in the game. In "Demo Reel Secrets" Boelter lays down the secrets and tips for a great actor's reel. After I read it, I wondered why the hell he'd publish all of his trade secrets. Does he want to put himself out of business?! The bottom line is that Derrick Boelter wants to help actors because he trained as an actor himself, and as a professional editor he recognizes the most common mistakes actors make when it comes to demo reels. Read this book, apply Boelter's secrets and tips, and watch how the results boost your career.

Derrick is a master at organizing your best work into the tightest presentation to help you get more jobs. He takes what you have -- whether it's a little, or a lot -- and creates a concise story arc that showcases what makes you stand out. The book explains how to do this in a way that won't overwhelm the non-techies out there, with a fun, conversational tone. Plus, having dealt with him, he's super dependable and does a bang-up job on the deadline you agree to. He's also got a great creative eye, so he can really help you figure out how to arrange your clips with the best transitions, so nothing looks choppy. Oh -- and he's funny. Worth every penny!
