5.0 out of 5 stars Very Fine Book About Local/State Government, November 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Democracy in the Mirror: Politics, Reform, and Reality in Grassroots America (Paperback)
Alan Ehrenhalt has been covering politics in America for 25 years, first at Congressional Quarterly and now at Governing Magazine. This collection of essays is a very readable and insightful analysis of how city and state governments work -- or don't work. The basic thesis is that we the people get what we deserve, i.e. a government that reflects our best and worst qualities. This book would be recommended for anyone interested in local government or politics or anyone studying political science today.
