4.0 out of 5 stars DEMO-lition, February 12, 2010

Finally after all these years I got my second dose of 21 Guns. I've been loving Salute for about 15 years and always found it difficult to find subsequent releases or went for something else. Well my friends, (and I say friends because this stuff is so obscure that if you're even remotely interested enough to read up on this group we are kindred spirits enough to be friends), I knew right away this was the same singer and guitarist that made Salute. Undeniable sound and feel that matches the original. Unfortunately, the production is also undeniably poor which I didn't take note of prior to purchasing. It's not horrible compared to old school cassettes, it's better than that, but after 20 years of listening to laser I was a bit discouraged. Pushing that aside and reading the liner notes I realized my oversight; "DEMO" in the title. This album is a compilation of demos from the Salute era, hence the undeniable sound. So if you're looking for new music from the great bands of the era prior to the tainting of so many of their peers with age, influenced by the "progression" of the genre since, you will enjoy this album. The production isn't horrible it just isn't very polished; basically sounds like Salute muffled a bit. For those reading unfamiliar with 21 Guns think Bon Jovi New Jersey era or Trixter.
