Al Atkins - 'Demon Deceiver... Plus' (Angel Air),
By
This review is from: Demon Deceiver...Plus (Audio CD)
Al Atkins (given name: Alan John Atkins) was the vocalist that apparently left Judas Priest to be replaced by the Metal God of all heavy metal vocalists Rob Halford. According to my source, 'Demon Deceiver' was released several years ago on a label Diesel And Glory with ten songs. Then reissued on Angel Air with two extra cuts. I was literally astounded at this fifth (I believe it is) solo effort by Atkins. Tunes I simply could not get enough of were the title cut "Demon Deceiver", the power-house rocker "Blood, Demons And Whiskey", "Sentenced", the total ass-kicking (an actual Priest song, mind you) "Victim Of Changes" "Cradle To The Grave", "Give Them Hell" and the must-hear "A Void To Avoid". Line-up: Al Atkins - vocals & producer, Johnny Lokke - guitar & vocals, Brian Tatler (Diamond Head) - guitar, Pete Emms - bass and Mick Hales - drums. Truly a lesser-known often over-looked metal gem. Essential.
