Book Description

Demon Diary September 9, 2003
Eclipse reminisces about the past...Raenef's guild leader was captured by the city guards. Raenef was about to be killed by one of the guards because Raenef. Eclipse was watching from afar and noted that either Raenef would die if he was mortal or Raenef would live because he was a demon lord. The guard was about to strike Raenef with a sword but, all of a sudden, his forearm exploded off his body. This proved to Eclipse that Raenef was truly a demon lord; for Raenef's demon lord powers had exploded the guards arms (although Raenef had no idea that he had done that). Eclipse appeared before the guards and Raenef, and had the guild members released. Eclipse told Raenef that he is a demon lord and that Raenef should go with him. Raenef agreed because there would be plenty of food and because he would never have to steal again. A sage informed the feudal lord (Leeche's father) that he needs to send a bride to the demon lord (Raenef), to appease his wrath (the demon lord being displeased had scorched the lord's land). Leeche goes to Raenef's castle, in place of the bride to be sacrificed, to kill the demon lord who had killed her mother. Leeche finds out that Raenef wasn't the one who killed her mother; however, Raenef still apologizes to Leeche. Leeche's father arrives at Raenef's castle to fetch his daughter, and brings along the real bride and other treasures. Eclipse takes tells Leeche's father to take back Leeche and the bride because Raenef is still a young boy. Leeche leaves, after kissing Raenef, that she will return in 10 years to become his real bride. Leeche warns Raenef not to take other brides or he'll pay for it! Eclipse goes to see Hejem. Eclipse is irritated that Hejem had dumped Chris on him. Hejem explains how he came to meet Chris. Chris was the only survivor after his village was attacked by demons. Hejem could sense that the god Rasaed was with Chris. Hejem announces that Chris will be his successor and will eventually become the head of the Temple of Rasaed. Later, Rasaed appears before Hejem and says the world of the demons is changing and so is the entire world. Rasaed also says that Chris will play an integral role in the change. Rasaed tells Hejem that Chris is a precious jewel to him and to take good care of him. In order to release the pain of his mother's death, Rasaed erases Chris' memory. Chris wakes up with no memory of who he is but he does know one thing, he hates demons. As Chris grows and learns, he continues to spend all his time focused on destroying demons. Hejem loves Chris beyond measure but also knows that Chris needs to broaden his views. Eclipse agrees to take Chris in for a short time but doesn't guarantee that Chris will learn anything. At the end of the book, a demon lord arrives at Raenef's castle.

3.0 out of 5 stars No where near as good as the first two, September 26, 2003

This review is from: Demon Diary, Book 3 (Paperback)
When I first got my copy of Demon Diary #3, I jumped for joy, stopped my homework to read it, and had finished within the hour. To my disapointment, it did not measure up to the first two. It begins by finishing off the flashback at the end of manga #2, and then goes to another futile effort at teaching Raenef how to be a demon lord. A failed attempt at a weather control spell leaves a nearby town sending Raenef an offering to fix the weather. This offering is, can you guess? A BRIDE!!! However, before they could send the offering, the daughter of the lord of this town drugs the offering and goes herself in an attempt to kill the demon lord. To my horror, the 7 year old menace falls in love with Raenef (Poor Eclipse!). Fortunatly, her dad shows up to take her back and give them the real offering. Eclipse says that they would be happy if he would take the kid off their hands, but to please keep their offering. (They can't afford any more free-loaders!) The little brat does something despicable here (But I won't tell you what she does! Read it yerself!) and leaves us in peace, hopefully never to return again. Then the book goes all down hill from this point till the last few pages. It's basically a big flashback kinda thing where Chris' past is revealed. The story ends with the appearance of a powerful demon lord, who looks kinda like a girl, but will probably turn out to be a guy. There are two short stories with our beloved characters that are unrelated to the above story at the end, which will have you gasping for air from too much laughing. Erutis shall from now on be known as "THE BONDAGE QUEEN WHO REIGNS OVER YOUR PAIN". Let's leave it at that. On a side note, what happened to "How dare YOU admonish ME, vermin?!?!?" That line was gold! At least it seems to have been replaced by fire, so I guess it's not so bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Demony goodness!! ^-^, September 9, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Demon Diary, Book 3 (Paperback)
This book came out a little earlier than expected, a pleasent surprise!! The series is great, with awesome charactors, that you already know all about by now. Such as Raenef, an adorible little clutz of a demon lord. Eclips, the stern but devoted protector-mentor to Raenef. Chris, the 'SUPER GENIUS', and the knight Erutis. This book also has classic comedy and the best little quirks ever. You'll really enjoy it!

In this volume, you see the conclusion of what happened in Raenef's past, it was really good, obviously. Then you notice some innecent jealousy from Eclips when a little girl falls in love with Raenef. And it all ends with a very high ranked demon showing up asking for Raenef. There also are two little side stories, about two pages long each, but pretty funny.

It's hard to believe, but with only three books out, the series is almost over! ;.; There are four more volumes comming, WAY too few. I just hope it isn't a rushed ending.

Anyway... Demon Diary rules so read them all!

^.~<see ya in my next review!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not awful., August 19, 2008
This review is from: Demon Diary, Book 3 (Paperback)
Yun-hee Lee, Demon Diary vol. 3 (Tokyopop, 2000)

The completion of the let's-find-Raenef backstory, and a new character is thrown into the mix when Leeche, a Lord's daughter, sabotages an offering to appease Raenef and appears in her stead. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, except that Leeche and Raenef take quite a liking to one another. Could this be the beginning of the coming forth of the prophecy that the demon world is about to change forever? Only a seemingly lovestruck Raenef knows, and he isn't telling... for now. ***
